Battery drain after iOS 14 update.
I had installed the new ios 14 and my battery drained from 90% to 10% without me even touching the phone. This has never happened before.
Please Apple fix asap.

The actual “notes” app that comes on the phone. That is where it said it was using a lot of my battery and it said it was running in the background for a long time. Nothing was supposed to even be running in the background but that app kept drawing from my battery nonstop. I deleted it and reinstalled and haven’t had a problem since. Not sure if that’s the problem app everyone is having problems with but you can check. If you go into settings, then down to battery. If you scroll down on the page it shows how much battery time is used on each app. If there’s one that seems like a crazy amount of time, it could be the problem?
Update: the last time I charged my iPhone 6 SE (to 80%, says Battery) was at 6:30 PM on Tuesday. The next morning, the battery was on 1%, and it had been at that level since around 2:15 AM on Wednesday. It is now 9:15 AM on Thursday, and my phone is still fully functioning on the Tuesday charge, so it has been on 1% for 31 hours! It is now clear to me that this is not a battery issue, but a battery indicator issue. I am now hoping that by letting the battery discharge completely, the indicator will be put on the right track again. I just have to wait until the charge runs out, luckily I'm working from home at the moment.
It reminds me of the old car my father once had, with a faulty fuel gauge, he had to keep track of the kilometers in order to determine when to fill up the tank. But that was around 1980, you can surely do better than that, Apple!
SO the new ios 14 sucks, which downloaded automatically. i have the same battery issues...but I figured out that the battery doesn't actually drain it's the reading. My phone worked fine at 1% for 14 hours, just disheartening to deal with. I did find if you pair it with another bluetooth device like Alexa and play pandora the battery reading works again...WIERD!!!
Apple needs to fix this without having to reset your device...Stupid. Come on Apple do better
I spent over two weeks with apple level two and a couple engineers. They were contradicting each other. The last person I spoke with asked that I replace the battery but he agreed that a battery at 84% should not need replacement.
The techs and engineers were hesitant to accept it is the ios14 that is causing this issue not the battery.
They checked my hardware and all of the apps on the phone. Although I dont have many. I dont do so ial media or play games. Not a heavy duty phone user.
The problem is with the ios14.
Sooner or later apple has to and will admit to it.
My wife and I have had the exact same issue, irrelevant of battery replacement. We have iPhone 7 and iPhone 7+ respectively. This all happened after the most recent 14 update.
From what I’ve seen here and from other forums it seems to be outside the relevance of a battery replacement and coincides specifically with the update. Problem in code, manufactured obsolescence, or something else who knows, but needs to be addressed.
I'm just a user like you and any random person with an iPhone.
I can't do any work to "fix it" any more than you can.
Only Apple Support can relay issues to Apple Engineering, who can fix things.
No one here can.
Again, Apple Support is the organization that can talk to Apple's engineers about this, no one else here can.
Sometime an app will trigger a battery drainage. The best way to figure this out is a reset of your ipad and find out if it still ocurs.
App’s that show ad’s and older writen code can be sloppy. In app advertising is a big pain in your wallet but Apple changed this policy resently, to use it in a family account.
I’ve updated to 14.3 several days ago, iPhone XS. And since then my battery uncharges super fast. Like 10 times faster than before the update. Tried to reboot my phone, no success. The phone uncharges even when I’m not using it. This night it has uncharged from 47% to 15%, no apps where working. It’s very frustrating.
I had a dip in my battery health on iOS 13 so it indicated that my battery was getting a poor health. With constant use of a smart battery case I neglected the phones battery. Afther 5 years I needed to replace the battery, wich I did at an Apple official reseller en repairshop. Now my phone last for 3 days, standby, easily.
I called Apple support a few weeks ago about this issue and she had me reset my phone, which helped somewhat. The battery strength no longer dropped from 100 to 10 in a couple of hours when the phone wasn't being used and constantly charged. Instead, it would only decrease to about 50% as long as I wasn't using it. Unfortunately, the solution didn't last and it's back to the massive drain.
I have an iPhone 6s. The update to 14 (14.6, now) has been draining the battery; I've had to charge three times a day with minimal usage. I turned off Bluetooth, set all email settings to Fetch hourly and disabled my Tile app with no improvement. My battery Maximum Capacity was 92%. I took it to the Apple Store for a new battery one week ago; it passed all of their hardware tests before and after the replacement. The battery Maximum Capacity is now 100%. With minimal usage, it still needs to be charged two to three times a day.
Sorry, I don't buy into the "Apple is doing this to force people to buy new phones" theory. But I do agree that Apple is completely responsible for these problems and needs to (1) greatly improve the quality control process for all iOS updates, and (2) stop with the silent treatment when so many people are having the same problem. They should come right out and acknowledge the problem and give an estimate for when it will be fixed.
I have an iPhone 7 purchased new over 4 years ago. It's been through major OS upgrades every year and countless minor upgrades and patches. There's no question that some releases caused battery drain issues (and other undesirable behavior). Usually the following release fixes the problem. Not always, but most of the time. The worst are, as mentioned in this thread, "emergency" patches that get pushed out with (obviously) very little (or no) quality control. I made the mistake of upgrading to one of these a few months back right after it was released (hence being a part of this thread), and it took Apple way too long to fix it. But they did fix it and my battery stoped draining in a few short hours. When the latest patch was released with lots of drama about "this is serious, upgrade now!", I put it on the back burner hoping to avoid dealing with this yet again. I'm glad I did.
The take-away for users is, don't install upgrades or patches for at least 2 weeks after they are released (I usually wait at least a month, sometimes longer, unless I fall for the "quick, do this now!" drama) and keep an eye out for reports of problems (Tidbits forums are helpful for this). The take-away for Apple is, put on your big-boy pants and stop acting so indifferent. Acknowledge your mistakes and fix them asap. You can certainly afford to do so. You want your users to trust the devices you produce, but you keep breaking that trust.
At 78% battery health you are usually prompted by the OS that your battery needs service. If you see this message in you Battery Health it means you are likely due for a new battery.
I my case it worked. When you are in need of a new battery from an official Apple reseller you must reset your iPhone as wel.
Have you turned off FIND MY IPHONE and see my post above?
Hi All,
I have recently updated to IOS14 for my iphone7+ and I am very attentive to make sure in my setting to leave and turn off most privacy/communication between my phone and wifi/external servers.
To the point... I called apple and they ran the diagnostics that my battery is in great working condition, and I know it is as only since my update to IOS14 the battery drainage began to plague me.
I am not a social media user and in my settings i have most privacy setting communications off and I do not have any apps using location services, only when in use, and there is no apple feedback(analytics) turned on just to make sure no unnecessary GPS or Antena/WIFI use. I removed all widgets/weather locations to make sure they were not sucking up juice. In ios13 i was even using weather ( while using ) and it never took my battery for such a ride.
I hope i've outlined some context to my case; So my question, Is there some new feature in IOS14 that I am overlooking in settings or elsewhere that I should delete/turn off.
