Honestly that’s The only fix. Sell this awful phone and go buy an android who’s keyboard hasn’t lagged in 10 years. Cmon apple. This isn’t hard to figure out. I’m a new iPhone user with this 11 pro being my first ever after having android ten years, and you’re about to lose me after not even being a customer for six months.

You know asanokatana you could just scroll on by. If you don’t have anything to say on the subject. Do not say anything.

By the way we don’t need to be told. You need to simmer down. It’s public and as many people who want to list their experience can. And should. So Apple will some day come out with a update that doesn't have millions of fixes after that update. Get a life dude

After contacting Apple Support unlike deansvr72 has ever done. Jealous little prick.

First they act like it’s a new issue. They have never heard of this issue. They told me to first go to factory reset. Are you kidding?! No way was I going to do that. It would take me a hour to get my phone back to the way it was. If not longer. So that tells me APPLE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO FIX THIS. They have had their head in the sand all this time. Then their fix was to download the newest update. 14.2 Because we all know updates fix phones cough cough cough. Any way, so far the keyboard is not lagging as much after the 14.2 update. Opps take that back. It’s lagging.

So I encourage you all to go here and report this issue. They do not have a fix. Because they haven’t had ENOUGH concern to fix it. Don’t let them tell you a factory reset will fix it. IT WILL NOT.

Yeah I called support and after two hours of waiting for callbacks etc they finally said there’s nothing they can do but setup a replacement phone to which I said ummm no bc it’s happening on any phone running ios14, not my specific phone lol. I was like please just log this somewhere because there’s almost 10k “me toos “ on the support thread and it’s not a new issue lol

Can we stop with the wacko conspiracy theories? Do you know why Apple acknowledged that the slow-down was happening? Because they weren't doing anything nefarious. Ill-advised, sure, but they weren't slowing phones down just to get more money.

There were features that were introduced to newer iOS versions that were unstable with older phones. These features were disabled on older phones so that they didn't drain battery and bug out.

It sounds like you have a different cause for the same symptom, but I wouldn’t tell people this doesn’t work. It clearly has for many people. I’ve also experienced the lag when I set up from backups. In fact, I don’t even use backups anymore when I set up new phones, for that reason. If you haven’t, start fresh. Big help with a lot of general system performance concerns.

Yeah and I’m sorry but the people who are saying to completely wipe your phone and never restore from a backup and start over brand new it’s just ridiculous. Apple should fix the problem rather than make people wipe their phones and start over as if it’s the first time they had an iPhone. I pay to have iCloud so I pay for back ups so if I ever wipe my phone I’m going to restore to those back ups. Ridiculous.

This worked for me.

The custom dictionary in iOS/iPadOS 14 isn’t compatible with the one from previous OS’s, and resetting the keyboard dictionary might reduce or eliminate the keyboard lag problem. I was doubtful at first, but I went ahead and reset my dictionary, and INSTANTLY the lag problem disappeared!

To do this, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary.
