Airpod Mic not working properly after IOS 14 update

Yeah so...the support guy didn't know anything about the problem yet and wanted to go through the normal return route for the AirPods.

So that wasn't a real reaction by Apple regarding this problem at all.

They couldn't even offer me the return because I originally hadn't bought the AirPods from Apple...

I don’t see any improvement after the new firmware update either. The mic is still faulty and I can’t make phone calls with my AirPods. I have tried several tricks including turning off the auto ear detection but nothing has worked yet.

Just update the AirPods 2 gen with the latest firm and the phone is also update and nothing , they can not listen me. I notice that when I raise my voice and speak for at 2-3 sec then the mic starts working but the thing is that I must speak continuously :)if now I stop for a second again the same. I record my voice with the recorder and there I saw it BUT if I use the GarageBand and record there then it works correctly.

Also when I listen the record at the beginning I hear a small wind for a split and then gap until these 2-3 sec.

Please if someone from apple sees this do something , it’s so long now the problem. I open a case , they try to help me with all the settings and the rest but nothing

This problem holds now 9 months to many customers . Now why apple doesn’t want to give a solution, this is a think that is very strange if you consider the size of the company.

Please post freely your opinion about this from anyone that has same issue .

Also we can use social media to post this issue so it can be more popular and find someone that has a solution.

Thanks for posting this. I just went to fill it out & it doesn't even list the latest version of the MacBook iOS (I have the problem there as well as my iPhone) in the dropdown. So frustrating....

So basically, go hang out in the woods off the grid to try to solve the problem of why my aipods mic doesn't work? I noticed abruptly about 2 weeks ago that people wouldn't hear me, on any of my devices. I can hear crystal clear, but the mic isn't working.

I’ve got the same issue. Happened a couple weeks ago for me. No one seems to hear me clearly and they say my mic keeps cutting out and sound robotic. It’s so annoying especially at work when I need to focus on call and other tasks at the same time! Can anyone confirm or deny that their devices are doing the same/similar thing?

Apple has a solution...it's called buy new AirPods. I chatted with a rep that told me to go into the store, knowing that the store would just tell me "you're out of warranty. buy new ones. this happens all the time". Wow.

I purchased a brand new pair of AirPod Pros on June 18, 2021. Everything works perfectly, except the mic on phone calls. I disconnected, forgot, reset, disconnected bluetooth multiple times all to no avail. Followed all the advice available online and on YouTube, no resolution. I am using an iPhone 12 Pro max and on iOS 14.6. I got the AirPods for phone calls as the primary use case, so am very disappointed that this problem has existed at least as far back as early 2020 and there is still no resolution from Apple.

Wow, I just bought these AirPods pros and the mic doesn't work on calls. Tried the laundry list of potential fixes to no avail. I see this issue goes back to early 2020 with no resolution. I mean, a functioning microphone for calls is the whole reason I got this and the seamless pairing. And it doesn't work. I just can't believe it. They haven't fixed it yet, I just can't believe it. If the mic doesn't work for call, there is no reason to own these things. It's insane that they haven't fixed it.

Wow! And I thought AirPods Pro didn’t have this issue! Can you tell me where are they built!? Looks like AirPods from Netherlands have such an issue. I guess we’d better wait for the brand new AirPods 3. This is actually embarrassing.

i am starting to believe that we have same issue like the ‘’slow’’ processors in old iPhones. Maybe someone finds the truth. For me are the second and last AirPods that I bought . I am really disappointed from Apple about this.

Same problem with Gen 2 / iOS 14.2... Started today and reset didn't help...

Same issue here. iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 8 both on 14.2 and AirPods 2nd gen on 3A283.

Worked perfectly fine before the upgrade to ios 14
