“Time to leave” alert in calendar not working

I’ve searched on the internet ways to solve this and I’m coming up short. When I set a calendar alert Time To Leave is crossed out and says “Time to leave alerts are not available because location-based services are not available”. My location based services are turned on. I feel like I’ve checked everything up and down including rebooting the phone but nothing works. Please help!

Hi there. I was having the same problem and researched it. Luckily I found the solution.

Got to settings>privacy> Location services> scroll all the way down to System Services and go to Location -Based Alert and turn on. That will fix it for you

That's because this is not an issue with iOS. If you don't make the two time to leave setting for your appointments I described elsewhere in this thread, you will receive no alerts in either iOS or macOS. It has also been reported by me and others that if you make an appointment for a short time ahead, you will receive a notification in both iOS and macOS without having made the time to leave settings. Why, nobody seems to know, but if your appointment is more than a few hours from now, both of those settings are required, in both iOS and macOS.

The reason this does not seem to help in most cases might be because you don't need Calendar to know your location so it alert you only while you are using the app. Mostly you need it to alert you when you are not using it, and "always" isn't an option. Under Location Services you can see which apps have accessed your location recently and Calendar doesn't often show up there.

That seems reasonable to me as well.

Tried all of the above, still does not work.

Now I updated to iOS 15, and still, it is not working. Also reset my location services settings today once more - didn‘t help.

In fact, I raised an issue with Apple for this a few months ago but until today, I am still awaiting any kind of reply or improvement.
