iPhone 7 lagging when unlocking

Wondering if any iPhone 7 users have experienced this issue whereby the phone will lag and become very sluggish when unlocking the phone. This issue arrived when I updated to iOS 14 and I didn’t have this problem in iOS 13. After unlocking , the animations will turn off and opening apps, scrolling through your apps will be really really laggy. After about 10 second when the unlock icon at the top of the screen disappears, then everything run as usual. Please respond if anyone have faced this issue before.

I have again reported the issue to Apple... more than 6 months have past and it still hasnt't been fixed!

I read that if you rise the phone and then unlock it, the lag does not occur. Instead of unlocking when the screen is off. Has anyone tried that? I will try it and tell you guys if it works since I haven't done so.

The workaround works:

1) raise your phone with raise to wake on, so that the screen goes on

2) unlock the phone with Touch ID

I have been trying this since yesterday and got no lag. It is basically like using Face ID, since you raise your phone showing towards your face and then once the screen is on you unlock it. If you unlock it directly when the screen is off, it might lag.

Maybe it has something to do with the optimisation of sleep Mode: it somehow hasn’t been optimised for Touch ID but only for Face ID?

Just adding my voice to the thread, had this infuriating issue on iPhone 7 since iOS 14 launched.

As someone earlier in the thread pointed out, it does seem (at least in my case) to be related to pushing the button to wake up the phone. This appears to not wake up the CPU correctly leading to a period of intense lag.

Enabling "Wake on Raise" and then raising the phone to wake it, before unlocking the phone via Touch ID works perfectly. It's important to note that pushing the button to wake still causes lag. You must raise the phone to wake it.

An awful workaround, but since Apple doesn't seem to care about the issue, it will have to do.

I have the A1660 model 32 Gb (US version) and I have been following the discussion and none of the given solutions works for me (Raise to wake up screen on/off; not moving screen picture/static picture; silent mode active/inactive) I think only some versions have this issue. My friend has same phone but Germany (EU version bought and 128Gb) - with no issues with phone/no lag nothing. Maybe this is the reason why there is no credibility about this issue that we have... waiting for 14.5 IOS software maybe they will fix it - but so many updates lately and nothing solved yet...

this conversation says it’s 19 pages long, at least for me. So apple releases an update, and doesn’t fix it. I’ve had a few apple recommended answers, so that’s proof that they read this stuff, but THEY JUST DON’T CARE!!!

And i’m guessing that there are other devices along with the iPhone 7.

my dad’s iPhone 7 is fine from what I know, but my iPad mini jumps when unlocking.

Apple, you know you want customers, and you definitely don’t want to lose them. At least fix this in 14.6. Pls

i’d like to see if this would be any different in Samsung communities. Maybe they could fix a bug. This is frustrating.

but I still have to give them credit for the good things they’ve done also, but apple, I have something to ask of you. WILL YOU LISTEN? And if you are listening and trying to fix this, say so, reply to this conversation, let us know you’re listening. Keep us informed. These are 19 pages of angry questions and replies.

(then I get an email that my response is apple recommended. That would have me laughing for hours.)

they will not fix this issue unless we publish it in social media somehow, or a known tech website talks about our situation and how Apple doesn’t care at all about their customers.

Ios 15 will be announced soon, and we still doesn’t have a fix for this crapً  since last year. Also iPhone 7 will be supported so I don’t plan to buy a new phone.

Yes, there are already a lot of leaks for it. I have even bigger hopes for iPadOS. I heard that could become more like a Mac in iPadOS 15. I’ll send a link so you can see the concept.https://betanews.com/2021/02/22/apple-ipados-15-design/you’ll get more from the link than reading it. But one along with that, I think iOS 15 is missing lots of bug fixes.

and I heard iPhone 7 would be supported, because they need a fix.

and I probably won’t write feedback because I don’t have the issue. I’m just here to help. But there are a lot of other things to fix, and I’ve seen that apple reads these because I’ve gotten emails that my answers are apple recommended. So maybe they could fix it, or explain why they can’t.

but whoever does write it, good luck.
