iPhone 7 lagging when unlocking

For me it makes no difference if rise to wake is on or off.

Yesterday i updated to 14.4.1 and it looks like the lag is less frequent.

have you tried the new ios 14.5 b6?

How are you unlocking the iPhone? If you are using password, or pin, have you tried Touch ID?

and if you are using Touch ID, have you tried passcode?

I have been facing this problem since ios 13. I though it will fixed in ios 14. And yes, I agree, waking the device for 2 seconds & then unlocking doesn’t cause the lag.

Also, low battery health & low storage doesn’t matter. It still lags.

I have iPhone 7 (32 gb)

This has been my experience for the last couple of months. I had a new battery installed in June, so I don't think it's an Apple throttling issue--it's pretty old though, forced obsolescence?

EDIT: i have 65 GB free storage, I just switched from dynamic to still backgrounds. My current working theory is Apple wants me to upgrade.

Well, is good to see that this problem is a really big problem for a lot of iPhone 7 users and not only a two or three.

I updated to iOS beta 14.4 and the problem looks to be a little less annoying. I will try with leaving the Low Power on.

I already sent a feedback with the Feedback app.

I’ve been having the same problem since ios14 update . I have also had my iPhone checked by apple remote support and they said everything was ok .

it is very frustrating and I also noticed that lags disappears when the phone is plugged in .

don’t know what to do

I also have this issue. Battery health is fine, energy save mode is off and I have enough free memory.

I reported the issue via the feedback website, as we should do since it hasn’t been fixed for quite a long time, hopefully they will fix it soon!

I have been experiencing the same issues with iOS 14, at first when I updated to iOS 14 my phone feels a little bit faster then after couple of days I started experiencing this issue whenever I unlock my phone it feels very sluggish for no reason, I wiped the phone restored from backup data, I still have the same issue, my phone has more than 100gb free and battery capacity is 100% so I think apple should address this issue please

На iPhone 7 лаги невыносимы, а на iPhone 8 они едва заметны. Но они существуют и там, и там, в одних и тех же местах и ситуациях.

Да какой там месяц... я со своей семеркой уже с лета 2020 мучаюсь, хоть глаза выколи...

Еще на 13-ке началось, кстати сказать. Но я тогда с 13-ки обновился на бету iOS 14, а потом откатился на 13-ку обратно - и, кажется, как раз после этого началось.

Так что 14-ка вроде как виновата

Thanks for recording this. I have never seen a recording of it before. It is the same problem as I have, but for me it doesnt matter which settings i have (sound on or off, bluetooth, wifi). It's so annoying but thanks to you we have proof and it is gonna help apple to fix it. just report the bug and hopefully this will fix it.

Same here, I will try to record video too, but mine is like 7-8 of 10 times you can get this lag. Sometimes is 1-2sec and its not that bad but most of the times is like 4-5 sec and its like using iphone 3g 🤦🏻‍♂️

My auto brightness is off and still have this problem, I have try everything and nothing helped. This problem is related to IOS14 cos my phone was working just fine without any freezing or lagging. But now I have this problem from upgrading to ios14 and all the way tonlast update to ios14.3. I have tried everything to turn off and on, resets, restoring and no restorning, nothing helped. Its like something heavy is working when phone is off screen, and when you woke up the phone there you have those 3-5 sec annoying lag.

I have the same issue and still waiting a official reply from Apple because it looks like its not based on battery life, RAM, available storage or any other similar things. It's really annoying and it happens really often. When I lock my screen to unlock again, sometimes it happens instantly. Like it was ok 1 seconds ago, what happened during 1 sec lock, to do this lag? It's frustrating and I can do nothing.
