Qi charging iPhone 12

I just buy a new XC40 recharge, also meet this issue with my iPhone12.

I also discover the shell and see the Qi-Charge under it, it is provided by LG.

iPhone12 does have issue with many common Qi w-charger.

i think volvo can't resolve this issue...

Same here with a 2020 XC40 and an iPhone 12 Pro. I had no problem with the regular iPhone 11 I previously owned.

there are some spots on the charging mat where the phone seems to keep charging for a longer time though.

Sometimes removing the magsafe case helps, sometimes not...

I contacted Volvo customer care and shared the link to the Swedish tech site with them. They indicated they have been receiving an ‘influx of inquiries regarding this issue’. Also indicated that they would get back to me with a response to the Swedish tech site information.

Thinking that more owner negative feedback to Volvo customer care might generate some action in their part.

I’ll share any feedback I receive from Volvo with the group.

Good news (I think) from Volvo Customer Relations this morning:

Volvo is currently working on fixing the problem. We will let all our customers know as soon as possible. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

No commitment as to when, but at least an acknowledgment that there is a problem and that Volvo is working on it.

I have the same issue, I just picked up MY21 Volvo V60, it is can not charge, Volvo dealer said they are working with Apple to solve the issue and they will ring me if a recall needed or perform a software upgrade if needed

I have a 2021 XC 90 and just had my software package updated 6-16-2021 to correct the problem with the charging pad at my Volvo Service. Well, the good side is that it does not display removing items from the area it shows it charging with a small icon on the top of the screen but, it does not really charge the phone it will hold the battery percentage of use at the same value and never increase even after sitting on the pad for an hour that is as long as you are not using the phone. So now I wait because the Service Manager has to call the Volvo Rep. about what is going on with this Qi charging pad. Back to the USB cable. $65,000 and cant get a charging pad to work with my iPhone 12.

I have been told by Volvo in addition to register the case with them, I also had to register a case with apple and update Volvo with the apple case no as well.

I just read an article on a Swedish tech site where Volvo has confirmed that this will be fixed with a software update

Thanks for this. Interestingly my wife's 11 Pro doesn't want to charge on the Volvo pad either. It obviously doesn't have the magsafe of an iphone 12. That led me to think it's the Volvo software. Both charge on a bunch of different Qi chargers we have no problem. Hopefully whatever the root cause it is a software fix. I also submitted the issue to Volvo via email. I figure the more people that complain the more likely it is to get fixed.

I picked up my 2021 XC60 in December and at that time I had an iPhone 11. Wireless charging worked flawlessly. A couple of days ago I bought an iPhone 12 and realised the same thing you have, that the wireless charging doesn't work with the new iPhone 12... :( I'm very disappointed about that! I saw the post about iPhone 12 not being QI compliant because of the magnets, but Volvo should be able to build some sort of compatibility mode that would allow the iPhone 12 to charge wirelessly. I hope Volvo and Apple can work together to resolve this issue!

No such information was included. Hope it will be a download but I am afraid you need to go to a Volvo dealer. Here is the article in Swedish

I’m so thankful for all of you guys and your responses as I was really disappointed yesterday when I picked up my Volvo XC90 and my iPhone 12 didn’t charge. This issue is squarely within Apple’s jurisdiction. This isn’t a problem unique to Volvo chargers! It’s any Qi charger and it’s been known to Apple since at least 10/20.
