Where is the CALCULATOR widget on Big Sur???

I hope it will come back one day, but it was already getting worse and worse: In the last OS versions it had no more memory when the sidebar was closed and reopened again. This was also very annoying.

Somebody here left the tipp to use spotlight instead and I'm bound to say that I still miss the GUI but this works very fine for me. Because the spotlight (just type in the calculation) works above every window even in full screen mode, like the sidebar was before. The calculator app doesn't.

No, it just calculates automatically if you stop typing … see screenshot. If you wish, you could open the calc in the calculator app but actually even this is not necessary. This is by far the best workaround for the missing calc widget for me. Nevertheless Apple should bring the calc widget back, the widget bar now is very yesterdays.

But if your spotlight is not calculating like in the screenshot above, then maybe you have "calculator" deactivated in your spotlight settings (under system settings).

Crazy to remove it.

Alternative Workaround if you want to keep it accessible.

1. Search CALC from the Menu Bar.
2. Open Calculator App.
3. Slide Calculator Icon left along Dock to "keep in Dock" (or hold down pointer and select "Keep in Dock" from submenu).

Well, yes. It's still an available application.

The point many are making is that it is no longer part of the Notification center (which is now widgets).

FWIW, Apple has removed the ability for developers to make fully interactive widgets in Big Sur. It appears that includes Apple widgets.

Yes, it’s gone. I noticed that as well. Seems like Apple did not port it to this new format.

yes, I noticed that too and bummed it is not there, I used it a lot. For now, I grabbed it from Launchpad and added it to the Dock.

Yes, I saw that too. Like SandsOfArrakis said, just use the Calculator app included with Big Sur - then drop it into your dock. A pretty good substitute... and free. I also use Siri a lot to do calculations and conversions... also very handy :)

No one you're addressing got rid of the widget. Apple did and they are not reading here for suggestions. You can let them know your thoughts here:

This is a user-to-user forum. No one here would know why Apple does anything. You can, however, let Apple know that you're not happy with this here:

a few little work arounds that i use:

1. use spotlight search (cmd+spacebar) and type in the equation
2. use spotlight search (cmd+spacebar) and type in calc + enter to open the calculator app
3. or maybe pin the calc app in dock

It's pretty typical for them to mess up something that works and that people use and like.

The notification center used to be great/one didn't have to think about it b/c it was just there and working. Now there's no calculator and if you want to see weather for more than one city, you have to add widgets for *each* individual city.

Quite annoying.
