Where is the CALCULATOR widget on Big Sur???

Hey guys,

Can you please let me know how to set the CALCULATOR on the widget??

That was really important and useful widget but I can't find it.

I hope please I can't just find it. If not, I can't understand developers for this OS 😁

I hope it will come back one day, but it was already getting worse and worse: In the last OS versions it had no more memory when the sidebar was closed and reopened again. This was also very annoying.

Somebody here left the tipp to use spotlight instead and I'm bound to say that I still miss the GUI but this works very fine for me. Because the spotlight (just type in the calculation) works above every window even in full screen mode, like the sidebar was before. The calculator app doesn't.

Hope this helps.

Un-bloody-believable. I have been a Mac user since 1982, well Mac since 1984 and even THEN they included the super-useful Calculator as a 'desktop accessory", and migrated to all Macs since then.

Instead when do they offer us??? THREE apps to check stock prices (all the incompetent Apple devs who live in a land far-far away are far too focussed on their stock portfolios rather than useful productivity tools)

I can also get NEWS (2 widgets), VIDEO, PODCASTS and several other useless "tools" which do not improve my productivity one jot, indeed are anti-productive. But unit and currency conversion? Sticky notes for frequently referenced information? (Yes, there are alternatives, but not as handy)

You really missed the boat here Apple, as you have been consistently doing for the past decade or more. When I used to be a researched and lecturer in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) you were help u as the model. Now I look to you for examples of how to consistently fail to understand user task management and instead serve up the fleet crap du jour. Get real.

I also have tons of feedback but to tell there must be a good feedback system where the user feels heard. The feedback-site isn't such an instrument. So there is less motivation for a single person like me … but please correct me if I heard you wrong.

The Apple provided feeback page is the best place to leave your feedback. Apple does read everything. It's also clear that they have based changes on concerted feedback campaigns.

If your point in submitting feedback is to get Apple to respond to you, no, it won't be especially satisfying. However, if your purpose is to help effect change, it does its job.

Whilst I know these forums are moderated, I think it would be naive to assume that Apple aren't aware of the strength of feeling on various issues - hence my right to voice an opinion, (& the more opinions the better imo)!

My information comes directly from the Hosts. They do not have time to read or consider feedback due to the volume of posts that require moderation. Occasionally, an engineer (or group) who has been tasked with resolving a particular bug will look through the forums for people having the issue and contact them. But, the lack of a calculator widget is not a bug, at least not in the traditional sense.

I never said you can't post your opinion here. I was simply pointing out that it's only effect is the catharsis it may afford you.

Before the next one says „Apple doesn't read this“ and „go to https://www.apple.com/feedback/“ I'll just let you all know, that I posted my feedback there and added a link to this discussion. So, I'm very curious, if Apple is really listening over there, as suggested. And hopefully they follow this link and are also recognizing the amount of user frustration with the new widget bar / notification center and its missing interactivity.

Yes, all feedback is read. Though, as noted on the feedback page, they rarely respond. They are more likely to do so if the issue is a bug they are working on fixing. UX feedback, not likely.
