Hello again,
Yes, the Canon (PIXMA) MG5350 is mentioned in the article About AirPrint - Apple Support as a printer supporting the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that the printer is compatible with macOS (Big Sur).
Regarding the firmware, please have a look at https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5350.html?type=firmware . There is an AirPrint Firmware Updater (Mac) for MG5300 series Ver.1.2b (19 September 2017). Unless already installed, please note the updating details.
Also see the Manual for how to use AirPrint for Mac.
It may not be a bad idea to reset the printing system (steps in the following article) before you add the printer.

Information about how to add the printer can be found here:

It should not be too difficult to make this work. Do you have an existing Wi-Fi network with a router? If so, make sure that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network. Do not hesitate to post back in case of additional questions.
Good luck!
Simply use the last driver available. I used the printer driver for El Capitan and it worked fine.
But still can't get the scanner to work.
I just deleted my old driver and installed it again and now it is printing.
on a Mac with Big Sur with a Canon Pixma MG 5350 printer.
try to print and you will see the printer in the list just add it as new an dit will set up again.
happy I can print again.:-)
In my company we have Canon 5540, so i need to download and install the new driver for the printer in this link and works
Assuming that the Canon MG3250 is connected to a Wi-Fi router, what happens if you try to print using AirPrint from an iPhone/iPad (instead of a computer)?
Is it possible to print a test page (nozzle print pattern) directly from the printer's control panel?
I have recently had a Big Sur update on a Mac Mini to 11.4 and find that you can now download a driver for Canon Pixma MX350 printer from the Canon web site and it will work this is of Wed 26th May 2021. The Scanner driver so far I haven't been able to get working.
I had the scanner portion of my MG8250 working under Mac OS 11.4 but it stopped working under Mac OS 11.5. I was getting the same permission error for IJScanner.
This fixed the issue for me:
Go to system preferences -> security and privacy -> firewall tab -> firewall options -> a kind of rectangle it says file sharing smb on top -> you click the + bottom left side of the rectangle -> then look for both:
/Applications/Canon Utilities/IJ Scan Utility/Canon IJ Scan Utility2
and
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/Canon IJScanner 13f
you have to click the + twice for each 2 application 1 at a time
that should do and you will be able to scan.
Best of luck
If you have a Canon printer with wireless functionality - I have the MP560 - and there are no printer drivers available on the Canon support page for that printer, try looking at the "Apps & Function" tab on the same page. The Canon smartphone app can be used to print documents from your phone, with the catch that the docs have to be in a supported cloud server, e.g. Dropbox or GoogleDocs. It would be helpful if under the tab on the Canon support page that says no drivers are available if it would point you to the app.
Looks like you just need to download new software. Did you do it already? https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/black-and-white-laser/d530?tab=drivers_downloads
Moechiu, try removing the printer in System Preferences and adding it up again. I think that this step will clear the print queue and any underlying problems.
I'd just installed PIXMA MP280 Driver from Canon's website and apparently works ok.
SYSTEM_VERSION_COMPAT=1 from xSashaCH worked for me. After install of a High Sierra ICA driver for my MG6250 multifunction, scanner was available in the Image Capture app under Big Sur. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Gutenprint worked for me! I was not able to print with my Cannon after updating my OS and getting a new Mac. I hope someone else who needs this finds it.
I did contact Canon support and soon they will be releasing a new Canon print driver for the Mac M1 chip devices. So hold on a few more days. I did get an advanced version and it works great on my Mac mini M1.
For what I learned about macOS and adding networked printers - Bonjour printers take really loooooong time to appear - think 10 minutes or so. Most of times patience was a key for me to get it appear in the list as visible to add.
