CNNGo not activating with Apple TV

I have the same problem as everybody else here. I tried all of the things listed in this thread to no avail. I’m also in Canada and Bell is my tv provider.

I would have thought CNN would care that it appears no Canadians can access their CNN go app using an Apple TV.

I find it almost impossible to reach anyone at cnn, most of the online sources do not have any contact info other than the feedback form

It is like they are completely oblivious to this.

This has been going on for about 2 months from my experience and ive tried to reach out several times.

Maybe someone here or at apple knows how to wake them up to this issue.

My cable provider takes zero responsibility and just pushes this off on others

Have been having the same issue for 2-3 weeks now. The activation is successful in my web browser but the window on the AppleTV with the activation code never closes. Using Rogers. Works fine on other devices.

You need to send an email to appletv@cnn.com and document your issue with Apple TV.

I just spoke with Mike, a Senior Advisor at AppleCare and it is not an Apple issue, it is a CNNGO app developer issue to fix.

How do you plan on doing that? CNN is bundled with your TV provider subscription, even at the most modest channel lineup.

I have been running into the same issue even with other Apple TV apps. ie CTV. I was told that it was the fact I was using a beta version of the tvOS. I reset the app and CTV now works but still stuck in the forever activating loop for CNN. I have a feeling it is the app that is not yet updated to work with the latest OS.

Everyone needs to send a note to appletv@cnn.com and provide details that are requested.

I have escalated within Apple and it is not their issue.

CNN developers own the CNNGO app and it is up to them to make the necessary update.

Yesterday I emailed appletv@cnn.com and advised that I'm having troubles activating the app. I also included a link to this thread and noted that many people are having the same problem.

To my surprise, I received an email from CNN today:

Hi – 

               The issue you describe below has been identified and resolved. It is scheduled for release tomorrow March 23rd 2021. Please reach out if you continue to experience the issue after tomorrow.

So there you go - try the activation process tomorrow (March 23). Let's hope for the best!

In this forum, there was an email address to contact the CNN app developers (AppleTV@cnn.com). I wrote to them last week asking for a resolution. Today I received this message;

"The issue you describe below has been identified and resolved. It is scheduled for release tomorrow March 23rd, 2021. Please reach out if you continue to experience the issue after tomorrow. Thank you, CNNGo Support."

I tried to authorize this morning and was unsuccessful. The app version is 2.10.3. I will try again tomorrow (March 24) to see if I can authorize then.

Thanks all. I was now able to activate the appletv device to cnn through shaw cable tv provider. This is good as now I don't need to drain the battery on iPad screen mirroring to appletv with the iPad using the cnn app no longer!!!

It's still not working for me. I deleted the app. Redownloaded and now the activation screen at www.cnn.com/activate doesn't have any place to enter the code. It just says "Activate your device / Get access to all of CNN’s live and original programming" and nothing else. I'm using an Apple TV HD (4th Gen)

Also, on the app site I see the current version of CNN Go app is 2.10.3–Released Jan 7, 2021.

Any ideas?

FIX! My issue was the cnn.com/activate was blank and I couldn’t enter the code displayed on the TV - but there’s other CNN link for roku that lets you put in the Apple code and it worked- If you have this issue try this link - it worked for me after no cnn for a month

I’ve emailed the App Support a few times now and have not heard back. Still can’t connect.
