Mail is slow since updating to iOS 15

What is causing email to download so slowly that it has virtually stopped since updating to iOS 15?

The fix for me was disabling Protect Mail Activity. Settings/Mail/Privacy Protection/ and turn off Protect Mail Activity and Hide IP address. Now checking Mail in the app works as fast as it did in ios14.

When I updated to Ios15 one of the options I remember getting prompted for was more privacy around Mail so I said yes. It works so well apparently you can’t check or send gmail accounts in a reasonable time frame with the iOS mail app.

I tried most of the other things in this thread before hand and nothing worked. Try turning off that new feature for now and see if things start working better.

Didn’t meant to be passive aggressive, nor thought I was replying to someone. Just tried to say that things that seemingly work are not working consistently.

Yes, I saw now. You’re right it happens without closing the app as well.

Not nice at all.

I wish I could learn how to solve such performance problems one day so I can help companies deliver better products to their clients.

It’s a PITA.

No solution was needed for me in the end. It gets stuck forever only if you close the app from task bar. If you did so just do what was offered in this forum to unfreeze it once. Then to make it fully work just let it finish, will take long time once but that’s okay. After that you’ll be receiving all your emails right away.

I am not getting my emails sometimes until I actually open the Mail app. I can send myself an email and only when I go into the Mail app and check my emails does the email show up. I am receiving emails when I go onto my app from an hour before. Any help regarding the situation would be greatly appreciated. This is absurd I use my phone to run businesses and I need to receive emails immediately, not when I go onto my Mail app.

For anyone that thinks my settings are not set up correctly is wrong. Everything is set up the way it should be.

Yes but you shouldn’t have to use another app in order for your mail to work. It’s like saying you have a transmission grind so you change transmission fluids in order not to have a grind. Your transmission shift regularly with normal transmission fluid.

in this came the mail app should work the way it’s supposed to and we shouldn’t have to use another app in order for our mail to come through on time

I explained what is on my mind; my mail takes about four minutes to download on my iPad, not on my iPhone. I use my iPad to read mail because the print is larger…and I am old. This is frustrating. Finally, when I opt to open a link in an email on my iPad it does so without any problems. The only problem, and a BIG one is that I have to wait another 4 or so minutes for the email to open when I go back to it. This is truly frustrating and a problem.

Agree with you.

tried everything like switch on switch off disable security reset restart, nothing worked. However if I used outlook mail, it worked fluent.

also, by chance when the app 1.1.1.1 (free vpn) is on, mail worked very fast and smooth. I know we should not use another app to fix something, but that is what I am doing to solve the issue until mr. APPPLE get us some fix.

Same frustrating issue. Open email app and all I see is a white screen with arrows on the right waiting for the email to appear. Takes forever to see the emails. Often have to close the app and re-open to see email. I had no problems prior to iOS15.4 and have not changed any settings after installing iOS 15.4. There is some issue with iOS 15.4.

iOS 15.4.1, iPhone 13 Pro.
