Unclear robotic voice on iPhone 13 Max Pro phone call

I have recently purchased an iPhone 13 Max Pro. I have a problem on occasion (often) when I get a phone call or when I make a call, the other person sounds like a robot. It switches to normal voice and back to the robotic sound. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had my device for 47 days and before this device I had a 12pro max in which I never had issues. I have been having same issues since the day two after purchasing the phone. We have two other 13pros at home all of them are with the same carrier and they don’t have the robotic feedback issues. I went back and fourth to Apple store and carrier and by the time I wanted my device to be replaced Apple said that the replacement time (the 15days which Apple gives us) had finished. I had multiple issues like call drops, robotic feedback, bad internet on cellular and ect., but nothing was resolved initially. They performed diagnostics multiple times, they said it will be gone if they re-flash the software, they did re-flash the software but nothing was fixed with it. When they re-flash the software Apple technician (that’s what they call themselves) said that I should configure my device as new so I had to setup the phone as new and had to download all the apps again and setup my Home Screen again, it is a inconvenience and I lost my back in the process. After all these steps the issues with robotic feedback was still there. I had a call with their experts and she mentioned the device will not be replaced even though there is a manufacturer defect after the 15days, then why should Apple sell the defective devices. The root cause for the issue from Apple expert was the environmental conditions.. I was like oh come on.. still they don’t replace the device which was purchased 45days back because that’s the policy of Apple. They set an appointment for repair service and I went to the store and store clerk asks me to explain the issue from the start again. They said they cannot replace it because I am in contract with tmobile (which was completely wrong, because I purchased the device from Apple unlocked and there is no contact with T-Mobile) I explained the same thing they said if T-mobile confirms that there is no contract they will replace it right away. I sat there for 35mins waiting for T-Mobile to answer my call and then they confirmed there is no contract and I gave the evidence to store manager who promised to replace the device. Now, after wasting my time, she says, ‘oh, I said I will try to replace but didn’t say I will replace’ she changed her words on my face. Now, other clerks comes in they are trying to convince me to get it repaired not to replace, I was like come on bro chill, it’s my money and I have the defective device why should I get it repaired instead to replaced when I have the warranty. They argued for an hour and I was really fed up with them so I gave my phone to repair. I got the device yesterday and so far no drop call or robotic feedback. Apple, please hire employees who knows how to treat their customers. Terrible service and no empathy at all. I would never recommend this Brand to anyone and I literally replaced the other three devices at home to Samsung s22plus and ultra. I am not going to use this piece of garbage as well, waste of money and energy. I was not expecting this from Apple service.

I have an iPhone 13 Max Pro. Has had all the same robotic distortion problems on random calls as everyone else. It is not a carrier/service provider issue. It is an Apple issue. Doesn't matter where I call from. Doesn't matter if I am on earphone, speaker phone or car audio. Doesn't matter if I call a cell phone or a landline. Doesn't matter if WIFI-calling is in or not. An apple service agent ran diagnostics but could not find or replicate the problem. Very frustrating as this is used primarily for business. Embarrassing, and I do explain when I phone back that the problem is the Apple iPhone 13 I bought. I will keep checking this forum and maybe one day a solution will be found. For now, I will suffer through to the end of my contract and decide where I will get my next business phone.

:( Thank you for trying. I turned off all location, all background processes, everything, and it still happens. For around 10 seconds everything goes robotic, then it goes back to normal. To me, that says that something in the phone is reaching out over the line and either sending or receiving something causing the distortion. I use WIFI calling but it happens on LTE and 5G as well.

The older iPhones didn't seem to do this. This shouldn't be that difficult to pin down.

I have a 10 XS max and this has been going on for weeks now and getting worst!!!! I know that it has to be with the update and not the phone because last week I got the new apple watch and it does it too!!! I got a fatality call today and couldn't even have the conversation with my clients THIS WAS A VERY VERY important phone call and that it set me over the edge with this phone!!!!! I am so upset that I cant take calls because of this problem and very unhappy that Apple seems to be not interested in this problem at all! I refuse to buy another phone because my phone is in perfect 100% shape and no need to get a new phone when it has been working just fine until the new update, its like APPLE is forcing people to get new phones by creating issues in their updates. I can't bring myself to spend a 1000 dollars on a new phone one month before their new release of the 14 when I just paid this phone off just a little over 6 months ago. I also refuse to go to the apple store because it was going to be 250 dollars to diagnose my phone. FIX THE PROBLEM APPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is apple support so quiet here when this is obviously a major issue? I have switched carriers and now even purchased the iPhone 14pro to replace my 11pro and guess what- the problem persists. It is obviously not a carrier issue as I've now switched (for no reason other than this) and it happens on wifi as well.

Apple- this is unacceptable!!!

I have the same problem with a brand new shiny $1,100 iPhone 14 Pro Max !! ha! I've had it for about a month. I use it for work and I am constantly having to call people back or they just hang up and call me back. It's known amongst my department. My co-workers just hang up and call me back. I keep thinking it's T-Mobile Service but doesn't appear so after reading all these posts on this thread. Also I was having the same problem on my iPhone 11 for about 6 months before turning it in for the 14 Pro Max. So it must be due to a software issue or something. I don't think there is anything I can even do?? I'm not trading my phone in for a refurbished used repaired one. I'm stuck with it. And it doesn't appear Apple cares. I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone has or finds out a fix for this. Thanks

Same issue. I have the iPhone 13 Pro (not max) and my husband has the iPhone SE. Both on Verizon. It happens more frequently on mine where the other person cannot hear me, I fade out, or I turn robot voice. It can last anywhere from a couple seconds to like 10 seconds. It doesn't seem to matter where I am, but I have found that most of the time it occurs when someone is on Speaker, which is 99% of my calls. I never had this issue with my iPhone X. This happens on most of my calls if they last more than a few minutes. This is interfering with my business, and I'm quite sick of it. Come on Apple!

I have this exact same problem. I have had it on the 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max and now the 14 Pro Max. Apple has replaced phones yet the problem persists. It happens on AT&T and Verizon networks so I believe it is the phone. It happens on airpod pros, speaker, wifi calling and cellular calling. The non-understandable digitized sound lasts for 5 to 10 seconds and happens repeatedly based on the length of the phone call. Sometimes I hear it and the other party does not and sometimes they hear it and I do not.

Don’t know what good this additional comment will do, but I’ve been having the same problem for months now with my iPhone 13. Apple told me it was my carrier (Telus Canada), but clearly this is not a carrier specific issue. It does not matter where I am, or what earphones are connected, etc. I have tried everything, but nothing works…very frustrating

I also have a dual sim have been wondering if maybe that’s the issue. I’ve spent hours and hours on this issue. Apple wanted me to send my phone in for 3 weeks to try and repair (lol… can’t do since I’m running 2 businesses and need my phone!). It’s been about a year and a half with my problem so far. :( Happened when I got the iPhone 13 Pro Max and then got a dual sim. SO frustrating. Anything blue tooth related really. Phone calls, connected to car, connected to Roku…

I have had this problem since I bought a second hand 8 plus. I was with Virgin and thought the problem lay there but I recently moved to Lebara and the problem is still there. The call starts well but within 30 seconds the voice becomes robotic for another 30 seconds before becoming clear again. After another 30 seconds it breaks up again. The fault seems to be with the phone rather than the telecom company.
