In the last couple of months some update happened that messed up the YouTube app with my Apple TV.
when ads come up the screen goes black. But if I hit up or center button sometimes the ad comes up and I can click on the skip ad button.
after clicking clicking the skip ad the screen goes black again. Audio seems unaffected.
am I alone in this?
Yeah, so what I had confirmed on earlier tvOS versions is that the default screen setting can be like 1080p SDR and that only really applies to the menu system. Then, leave the dynamically determine content framerate, etc ON and that way it doesn't try to keep at HDR for non-HDR content. It adapts. Doing this commercials still blackened out... rather annoying.

A workaround is mentioned, but I wouldn’t call it a full solution.
Happening to me too. I don’t think I should have yo make setting changes. This is a big and needs attention
