ios 16 photo import to Mojave

Anyone else experiencing the same problem trying to import photos to MacOS Mojave (10.14.16) form iOS 16? On plugging in my iPhone, I was asked to update iTunes (done) and restarted iTunes, but I get an error message "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.)" and no images can be imported.

This will be problematic if I can't offload photos into my Mac!

Do you have a source for this or just your own claim?

I have a MacPro running Mojave 10.14.6 and an iPhone 13Pro that I upgraded to IOS16 yesterday.

I took some photos today and got this error when I tried to import them into Photos, like I have always done.

I went into Settings/Photos, and made sure it was set to "Automatic" for transfer to MAC or PC.

Then I went into Settings/Camera/ and chose "Most Compatible" in the Camera Capture Settings.-

but then the error said it could not import the JPG files ...

This is troubling if I cannot import photos!

I went a different path. My main machine was a late 2009 MacPro running Mojave. Since I could not upgrade it any newer, my solution was to buy a used 2015 MacBook Pro, and migrate everything to that machine (running Big Sur 11.7).

I had 20 TB of drives in the MacPro, and have a 5 drive USB3 external drive case due in tomorrow from Amazon ...

Once I've got the data drives in a new stable external system, I'll know more.

Similar situation here: everything was working fine until I upgraded iPhone to iOS 16. When I plugged the phone, Mac asked to download an update. After that now I get "The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9937.) (-9937)" when trying to import from Image Capture, regardless if I choose to keep original format or not. Image capture does show the thumbnails and iPhone didn't prompt to trust the computer. The pictures and videos I'm trying to import were taken before and after the upgrade to iOS 16 so it's not a file format issue

Old Macbook Pro with High Sierra 10.13.6.

Using AirDrop to transfer HEVC videos will take forever, and it might even auto convert it back to H.264 which is a no-no. So no workaround yet.

Perhaps the fault is indeed in iOS, in which case, iOS 16.x will hopefully solve the issue in mid/late October as anticipated.

On the other hand, we may need to see an extra plug-in for Mojave/Photos/iTunes, too (and if you recall, on first plugging in an iOS 16 device, we were invited to download a file via iTunes/etc).

Either way, it's rather disappointing that we are the beta-testers for an important iOS upgrade. Still optimistic, and looking forward to the end of this month.

I understand it's useless to live in the past; however, there's a big difference with Apple being run when Steve Jobs is around and when he's not.

I tried what apple suggested about how to make my iphone appear as a drive in my OS x Mojave and yet, all I can do is add music via itunes on my Mac.

Tested this on both my Macbook Pro and Mac Pro.

In the end, Windows 10 is the solution. A competitor is the solution. Hahaha.

I'm sure because of this message, don't be surprised if suddenly, Windows 10 cannot access any iphones anymore. :)

9 to 5 Mac reports that iPadOS 16.1 will be out Oct 24, so I assume iOS 16.1 should be there too.

Not being a professional photographer, I can wait to update the phone to be able to get my now-bulging iPhone library offloaded.

Being a professional music producer*, I'm running a 12-year-old Mac Pro, and even with an upgraded video card, Mojave is as far as this computer will go, so the iOS update is my only choice here.

*I know it doesn't logically follow that I would still be on an old pro desktop, but income hasn't seen the type of funds needed to upgrade to a newer model! One day, one day...
