ios 16 photo import to Mojave

Anyone else experiencing the same problem trying to import photos to MacOS Mojave (10.14.16) form iOS 16? On plugging in my iPhone, I was asked to update iTunes (done) and restarted iTunes, but I get an error message "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.)" and no images can be imported.

This will be problematic if I can't offload photos into my Mac!

I have a MacPro running Mojave 10.14.6 and an iPhone 13Pro that I upgraded to IOS16 yesterday.

I took some photos today and got this error when I tried to import them into Photos, like I have always done.

I went into Settings/Photos, and made sure it was set to "Automatic" for transfer to MAC or PC.

Then I went into Settings/Camera/ and chose "Most Compatible" in the Camera Capture Settings.-

but then the error said it could not import the JPG files ...

This is troubling if I cannot import photos!

Hi Judy

CS6, and functionality for my Epson printers are the primary reasons why I stay on Mojave. On two iMacs, and my MBP. Plus cloud-based software just doesn't appeal to me, and everything works as it should right now. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hopefully, I will have iOS 16.1 Beta 4 on my phone by morning (~5GB D/L, slow home internet). I will report back on how it works out with Photos imports. Probably be tomorrow PM, so stand by.

No trouble at all to sign up as a Beta Tester with Apple, just FWIW.

Hi All

Real briefly, "Yeah; 16.1 Beta4 on my 12Max fixed the import issue." At least on a sample of two fotos. I haven't had a chance to look thru to see how the rest of the install is working, but LTE and Wireless are there, and the rest looks OK, anyway.

Gotta go; will report back if I find other issues with the installation, but for now, if ya can't wait for the official 16.1, give the Beta a try.

As stated before, don't assume something until it's tested.

Who knows, maybe the person who keeps promising 16.1 is just some wanna be programmer at apple who knows their team do not know how to fix this or were told to do this.

16.03's release clearly just focused on bugs with the newest iphone and mentioned nothing else.

For the person on CS6, just install VirtualBox on your Mac. Then install Windows 10. From there, you can access your iohone's DCIM folder.

That's how I download all my videos and photos.

It's obvious that all the real programmers left apple and I wouldn't be surprised if they started their own app development company.

Until then, Windows 10 is the solution and 16.1 is just a carrot on a stick that some donkey is holding out to you to drag you along.

When 16.1 comes out, I'm sure someone will write "16.2 SHOULD fix the problem."

Ok, Mr. Windows enthusiast, enough is enough. 16.0.3 as I mentioned, didn't solve the problem. I downloaded it and checked it right away and posted my report to be helpful. Your confrontational style is no good to anyone here. You are barking at the wrong tree as mentioned earlier. None of us work for Apple. This a community of people trying to engage in solving issues that arise with Apple products. But again, none of us work for Apple. It has been stated several times on this forum and other sites that 16.1B (or test version) has addressed the issue. We are just expecting the official release of 16.1. I don't work for Apple but as opposed to getting frustrated with something I can't fix, I just exercise patience and hope it works. Have a nice day now, and chillax for Chrissake.

9 to 5 Mac reports that iPadOS 16.1 will be out Oct 24, so I assume iOS 16.1 should be there too.

Not being a professional photographer, I can wait to update the phone to be able to get my now-bulging iPhone library offloaded.

Being a professional music producer*, I'm running a 12-year-old Mac Pro, and even with an upgraded video card, Mojave is as far as this computer will go, so the iOS update is my only choice here.

*I know it doesn't logically follow that I would still be on an old pro desktop, but income hasn't seen the type of funds needed to upgrade to a newer model! One day, one day...

Well I just installed iOS 16.0.3, and it's worse! Now the iPhone (12Pro) connects and disconnects repeatedly, opening Photos, and then disappearing about ever 3/4 of a second, in a loop. Wow. Image Capture (when I open it) says it's converting the iPhone photo reel, and then then the looping begins all over again. (Mojave 10.14.4 on a mid-2015 MBP 16GB 2TB.)

I'm actually not a Windows enthusiast. Why would I buy a Mac Pro and Macbook Pro to install a VM to run Windows.

When one seese doing this, they can probably guess that I am at the bottom of the barrel.

Would love to install the 16.1 beta; however, it does state that installing it voids Apple warranty, so I'm forced to wait for the official 16.1 release.

I only mentioned Windows for those who need to offload videos on their iphones before they fill their storage up.

In my case, I tested a GoPro Hero 10 and unfortunately, it really did run burning hot to the touch, so I bought an iphone and was impressed by its 4k videos with minimal camera shaking. Hence, this iphone replaced the gopro for me.

Once I can start importing all videos from my iphone directly to any of my Macs, then that's all I'm asking for. Like others, in ios 15, it did work.

I upgraded to ios 16 because of the added features it has.

So am waiting for the official 16.1 to come out. Until then, to preveny iphone from filling up storage space, I have to use Windows to download videos one at a time off of my iphone because downloading too many at a time causes the transfers to crash halfway through.

Yes. I'm venting considering how much an iphone costs and just saying that cheaper phones do not have this issue.

Android phones are like Windows computers, they should be the ones having issues because there are many hardwares on a phone or PC that wouldbe used to run Windows or Android.

Macs are develop just one hardware to run their OS, so it would minimize errors.

I have a software development QA background, that's why I wrote to inform others to not assume a new version will fix bugs unless it's stated in the "Release Notes."

I'm not a part of this weak cancel culture so I'll post things as direct as they get. I'm not a part of that fake crowd as you can see.

Cheers.
