ios 16 photo import to Mojave

Anyone else experiencing the same problem trying to import photos to MacOS Mojave (10.14.16) form iOS 16? On plugging in my iPhone, I was asked to update iTunes (done) and restarted iTunes, but I get an error message "The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.)" and no images can be imported.

This will be problematic if I can't offload photos into my Mac!

Do you have a source for this or just your own claim?

Same problem over here. I have an iMac running on Mojave 10.14.6 (I can't upgrade any higher due to system resources).

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and updated to iOS 16 last night.

I'm getting this on Image Capture when trying to download images: " The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.) (-9956)."

I looked around for solutions and tried to give full disk access to Image Capture and PTPCamera and neither of the suggestions offered here or there worked. Note: I don't use the Photos app (just a personal preference) and rely entirely on Image Capture for this.

Please help! Thanks!

Another option is to send the pictures via gmail to my account, but sending my photos One by One is tedious, and an absurd way to go. Instead, I just bid and won a mid-2015 I7 Quadcore Macbook Pro, and I'll move all my stuff to that (from a late 2009 MacPro running Mojave), and set that up with a stack of external drives for all the data (AV etc) that I manage for our household.

But maybe the coders will fix the iPhone photo issue in an IOS bugfix before I have to go through all of that.

Well, you used to be able to count on Apple for a fix, not so much any more.

Things in my Mojave installation have been breaking down right and left, and the only "support" offered is "Well, upgrade to Big Sur . . ."

Ain't gonna happen. Already tried that, and it breaks too many long-time favorite apps. Was **** (Hades then, Nanny) getting Mojave/Time Machine Restore back on the MBP, too.

Actually, this is why I happened to have the live Ubuntu mentioned above; very seriously considering ditching MacOS in favor of Linux. Ubuntu is a fairly well polished Distro right off of the download, and very configurable.

But I do like my iPhone, and I just ordered an iPhone 14 ProMax to take advantage of the 48MP camera. iOS 16.x will undoubtedly come on that, but not of much use if I can't get my fotos off of it. Nothing like "Cloud" where I live; our internet is not a whole lot faster than dial-up :-P

Hi Judy

CS6, and functionality for my Epson printers are the primary reasons why I stay on Mojave. On two iMacs, and my MBP. Plus cloud-based software just doesn't appeal to me, and everything works as it should right now. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hopefully, I will have iOS 16.1 Beta 4 on my phone by morning (~5GB D/L, slow home internet). I will report back on how it works out with Photos imports. Probably be tomorrow PM, so stand by.

No trouble at all to sign up as a Beta Tester with Apple, just FWIW.

Ok, Mr. Windows enthusiast, enough is enough. 16.0.3 as I mentioned, didn't solve the problem. I downloaded it and checked it right away and posted my report to be helpful. Your confrontational style is no good to anyone here. You are barking at the wrong tree as mentioned earlier. None of us work for Apple. This a community of people trying to engage in solving issues that arise with Apple products. But again, none of us work for Apple. It has been stated several times on this forum and other sites that 16.1B (or test version) has addressed the issue. We are just expecting the official release of 16.1. I don't work for Apple but as opposed to getting frustrated with something I can't fix, I just exercise patience and hope it works. Have a nice day now, and chillax for Chrissake.

I'm actually not a Windows enthusiast. Why would I buy a Mac Pro and Macbook Pro to install a VM to run Windows.

When one seese doing this, they can probably guess that I am at the bottom of the barrel.

Would love to install the 16.1 beta; however, it does state that installing it voids Apple warranty, so I'm forced to wait for the official 16.1 release.

I only mentioned Windows for those who need to offload videos on their iphones before they fill their storage up.

In my case, I tested a GoPro Hero 10 and unfortunately, it really did run burning hot to the touch, so I bought an iphone and was impressed by its 4k videos with minimal camera shaking. Hence, this iphone replaced the gopro for me.

Once I can start importing all videos from my iphone directly to any of my Macs, then that's all I'm asking for. Like others, in ios 15, it did work.

I upgraded to ios 16 because of the added features it has.

So am waiting for the official 16.1 to come out. Until then, to preveny iphone from filling up storage space, I have to use Windows to download videos one at a time off of my iphone because downloading too many at a time causes the transfers to crash halfway through.
