Iphone 14 Pro screen scratches
Is anyone seeing iPhone 14 Pro screen getting scratches like crazy. I just kept it in pocket and can see several scratches.

OK I can add to this. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, my 14th iPhone as I have owned them all from day one.
It’s scratched. A lot.
Im very careful with my phones, and haven’t required a case or screen protector for at least the last 4 or 5 phones I’ve had.
my wife has my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max, which is a year older, treated exactly the same as my 14 and not scratched at all.
I raised this with Apple support a few days ago, They recommended a 50mile round to my nearest Apple Store.
That was today.
the ‘genius’ I spoke to (their term not mine) said two interesting things.
- Apple/Corning have traded shatter resistance for scratch resistance with iPhone 14 screens, so whilst the screen is much less likely to shatter if dropped, it is also much MORE likely to scratch.
- I know I never put anything else in the pocket my phone is in, my ‘genius’ told me a grain of sand in my pocket is enough to cause the scratches I have.
Mainly though, they said this is cosmetic damage and get lost.
No one could explain why I was advised to drive 50 miles and waste 2 hours of my life to hear this.
in summary, if you treat an iPhone 14 Promax carefully, like your previous phones that were fine, this one won’t be.
it REQUIRES a screen protector. In which case for a phone at this price point I would argue it should be factory supplied and fitted properly in a dust-free environment.
At the very least, contrary to the false claim on the Apple website that implies improved scratch and chip resistance they should warn this phone may not be as scratch resistant as previous models due to improved shatter performance.
I’m not arguing that improved shatter resistance at the expense of scratch resistance is bad or wrong, just that Apple need to tell us this before a £1,400 phone is scratched - not after.
had I know this, I would of course have fitted a screen protector on purchase, up to now I never needed one and that is my point.
Im not done with this and have raised a complaint with Apple about this.
BTW two separate people from Apple today (one in the store, one on phone support) both said the same thing about shatter v scratch, so it’s obviously widely known to Apple staff, who knew this in user land? I certainly didn’t.

I am so disappointed, just had my phone 14 pro for 4 days until i had screen protector ordered. i saw 3 scratches already, kept it so safe. No mishandling at all.
My old samsung note was far better in that regard, it literally fell from 1 floor high and nothing happened i meant screen didn’t broke.
My watch series 7 screen broke, iphone XR screen broke.
Apple should maintain Quality control and live up to high prices we have to pay :(
I have had my iphone 14 pro max for only 2 weeks and scratches everywhere. I am super careful with all my devices and so upset about this. iphone 14 claims to be scratch resistant which is not true :(
Honestly, it's your call but you have to take responsibility for the risks.
If you buy a new car but choose not to get a clear bra because you like the look of the bare paint, that's your call but you also can't complain when your hood is covered in rock chips as a result.
Independent reviewers found the iPhone 7's screen scratched at the same point as does the iPhone 14's.
It scratches much more easily than the 11pro. 3 years, countless drops, etc with the 11pro and I have more scratches on the 14Pro with no drops (yet). It’s a different screen and it attracts scratches, even from just being in your pocket.

I don't even get it out of the house , i use it like a house phone since i prefer samsung for work and i found a very tiny scratch on the screen you need to put light and search for it and it will show only if the light is coming vertically on the screen but that is unacceptable , no reason at all to be scratched because am beyond careful with it

I don't use screen protectors because I don't like them. And yes, every iPhone I've ever had, going back to the iPhone 4 has developed scratches. None of them bad enough to interfere with use but certainly visible when viewed at a certain angle. I also worked for Verizon Wireless for 20 years. All phone screens will get scratched without a screen protector.
Had my 14 pro for a month and already two scratches. I'm very careful with my phone but I didn't want to apply any film or holder so that I can use the phone as it is! It's disgraceful.
Same issue. I had an iPhone 11Pro before this for 3 years and have less scratches on that screen than I do on a 2 month old iPhone 14Pro. This isn’t ok. They need to do a recall on these devices
Had iphone 11 for couple of years. Never had this issue. With 14 Pro within couple of days I saw these scratches.
Disappointed that $1000 phone with 'ceramic shield' can't handle this light use.
It is less prone to crack but it's no more prone to scratch than any phone going back to at least the iPhone X.

I've had mine 4 days and it looks like a dropped it and shattered the screen it's covered in scratches and it stays in work pants all day
i am really bummed , i had to return my first iphone 14 pro max because the photos were distorted. now i had my replacement only a couple weeks , i only put in my pocket sometimes and always with nothing it it. today i see scratches !? unbelievable is Apple just taking their profits and runnning ? customer service was rude , the hassle of just trying to talk to someone. not the Apple i thought i knew.
I have had my phone less than a week and notice so scratches near the camera on the screen. It is round in nature and looks like something was rubbed or set on it. I have only put it in a pocket of soft pants a lone. I have not dropped the phone or set something on the screen. This is crazy that it scratched so soon while waiting for a screen protector. I’ve never had this happen with any other phone. I have no idea what would have given it so many little scratches like this. Very disappointed with this from Apple.
