So just upgraded to 16.2 and now my always on display turns off in a couple minutes or so.
this seems to be a bug

Where’s the option to enable it ANYWAY?
I specifically bought this iPhone for the ALWAYS ON Display, obviously Apple doesn’t actually “know” when I don’t need it - because I keep noticing it being turned off when I wanted it on! Which is, ALWAYS!!
Guess what! I did a HARD reset of my 14 Pro today and it’s working. Hallelujah!!
Same. Turns off when laying down for 20 seconds. Nice always on display 😂
Congrats! Did you do a full factory reset, or the vol up/down power button reset?

I have a iPhone 14Pro
iOS 16.3.1 and my AOD is always on
even at night it is on

Right. That's not useful, which is why this thread exists in the first place.
Same thing happened to my iPhone 14 pro i tried everything people we suggesting with no success I did a forced reset after it turned off at night and has stayed on since
Me to but do it after it turns off eg at night just did the latest update and it started turning off again so did restart after it turns off and all good again it stays on all night
