Yellow Screen of Death iPhone 13 Pro Max

If you're an iPhone 13 Pro Max user who has recently updated to iOS 16.X.X, be aware of the yellow screen of death issue. This is not a user-related problem but a hardware issue caused by Apple. There’s multiple discussion on this issue. The yellow screen of death is when the screen suddenly bricks and turns yellow with horizontal lines across it.

Unfortunately, I've experienced this problem myself on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, which was out of warranty. I had to pay $493.57 to replace my screen after being rejected for a repair cost waiver by the store manager.

If you encounter this issue, don't hesitate to call Apple's hotline and request a repair cost waiver before heading to the store. Worth giving it a shot so many users here had faced this issue, which can occur even when no damage has been done to the screen.

I didn't get a refund or compensation from Apple because I had already paid for the repair as I needed my phone back urgently for business use. It is very disappointing to know that we user have to bare for this cost losing faith in Apple now!

To save yourself time and frustration, make sure to call Apple first to get the waiver if you experience this issue.

Hopefully with enough cases in the future, Apple will admit to this defect and give us user that had paid for the repair a compensation. Do leave in the comment if you had the same issue!

I facing the same issue. I still calling Applecare to reimburse me on the repair cost. a senior advisor from Apple Care revealed that if I had inquired about the repair cost prior to sending in my phone, Apple would have been able to cover it. However, since I had already paid for the repair, there seem to be limited options for resolving the issue. This situation appears unreasonable to me because, as a customer who had never encountered any problems with my phone before, I was unaware of this particular protocol. Furthermore, this incident clearly indicates that Apple has the capability to cover repair expenses, especially considering that the problem originated from an iOS issue.

I've been an iPhone user since the iPhone 3 was released and I've never encountered any issues until now. I did the SW update (16.6.1) on my iPhone 13 Pro max 2-3 weeks ago. But after a few days of doing the update, the screen got stuck on a yellow screen. I brought it to the Apple center and they quoted me around Php25,000.00-Php30,000.00 to fix it just because it's already out of warranty. I'm so very disappointed that my phone is damaged because of the iOS update I did which is not my fault.

Similar issue. Went to the service centre yesterday... was told

i) they cannot troubleshoot my phone (open the back) because the screw is rusted

ii) if I still want them to do, I have to pay RM5200 (about USD1000) because the rusted screw

So, Apple, you have fried my iPhone because of your update, and now I have to pay just because you use lousy spare parts? I am very upset with this situation - have been a loyal user for over 10 years. And the first time I need assistance this happens. So disappointed.

Any solution to this without having to pay the hefty fee?

Hello Community,

Same problem here.

This just happened on my iphone 13 pro max.

Very disappointed with Apple Mexico, the hotline sent me to a repairer.

The advisor informs me that there will be a cost for the repair.

Iphone purchased in June 2022, not even 2 years old and already "dead".

What is Apple looking for? Concerning myself, I think this will be the last Apple product purchased, tired of paying for products that are becoming more and more "fragile".

My husband woke up and his screen was yellow. Tried the fixes on the internet with no luck. Called Apple support who told us to visit our nearest Apple store. At no time did anyone offer a free repair as it was not an Apple issue. My invoice tried to say the screen was black but they corrected. I showed this to the associates who were speechless and could not comment. I will be seeking reimbursement. Spent an entire day on this!

I have same problem with my iPhone 13 Pro Max as I was trying to dial a number and suddenly my phone screen turn yellow of death issue. After that I tired to off my phone and directly connect it emergency center. It has been only 1 year and 10 months since the purchase of my iPhone 13 Pro Max from Apple Store in California during my visit. I took my phone to the local repairing center and after checking it they told me you need to change the screen and it will cost you $1,1400FJD since we don't have apple store in Fiji. So for me it will be better off to buy a new iPhone rather than wasting money on fixing it. I am a big fan of Apple but after this issue my perspective has totally changed.
