some iCloud data isn't syncing

Just upgraded from iPhone 14pro (ios 17) to iPhone 15 pro (ios 17.0.2) and set up the new phone via icloud backup. All data loaded in except for my messages, health data, and keychain/passwords. I get an alert in settings

`Some iCloud data isn't syncing. Your end-to-end encrypted data stored in iCloud can't be accessed on this device. It includes saved passwords and data from Health and Maps. Verify your account information to resume syncing.`

When clicking resume syncing, I enter the passcode for the phone and get a new popup to reset end-to-end encrypted data which I do not want to do so I don't lose that data. I have other trusted devices on my account that can access the data (at least the messages as far as I can see, I can't see health data on mac).

I tried wiping the phone and setting it up again from the backup, entering the 6 digit code sent to my trusted mac when logging in and I was able to get messages to load in but still none of the other data and I still get the same notification in settings. I've spoken with 5 advisors at this point who all told me my only option is to reset the data, aka delete it. Not sure if there is any other way? I have multiple trusted devices, the correct login info, and can see that the data is present in icloud, just can't be synced to the new phone.

Are there any other ways to verify the account information for icloud on the phone so that the end to end encrypted data can remain in tact and sync to this phone?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 17

Fixed for me. I also had this problem, with the message "Some iCloud data isn't syncing, etc.......Verify your account information to resume syncing" I clicked on the "resume syncing" link, got the spinning ball and then nothing. I noticed others on this thread had "reset" the phone with mixed results. I was trying to Verify my Account, so went to Settings, then clicked on my name, went to the bottom and clicked "sign out". The system logged me out of iCloud. I then signed back in, the error message disappeared and I now have access to all iCloud data. So glad I didn't have to spend hours on the phone with tech support.

I had the same problem here as well, what I did was, when you press the 'Resume Data Sync', it will ask for your passcode (I have tried at least 10 times before this message popped up, I think you might need to wait for a quite while), after put in my passcode, I left the phone overnight, until the next morning, then the message 'Reset End-to-End Encrypted Data' pop up. and you pick 'continue'. Then everything is fine.

The message 'Reset End-to-End Encrypted Data' might take quite a long time to pop up.

So ktc97 is correct!

I did this but had an issue turning on password and keychains, it also kept freezing.

What worked for me was actually changing my password pin from 4 digits to 6.

After that changed, iCloud let me turn on the password and keychains, and the reset end to end encryption popped up (never got that pop up before). After clicking reset (health and all other data were fine), it finally let me resume data sync.

Hope this helps

I was getting the Security Key prompt across all of my devices (ipad, watch, iphone, imac and mbp) -- and following along this thread, I erased all content and settings from the ipad...and lost everything (health, fitness, wallet cards, etc.).

Getting things set back up, I've had to re-set all AirTags and my airpods registered to me...they did not automatically reconnect when I reset and signed in.

So frustrating...years of health and fitness data lost. And now my messages still aren't syncing to my iphone the way they used to.

I've done about 5 hours of calls with tech support, submitted logs from all devices, and screen recordings to show the issue...and Apple said no one else had this issue.

Can you remove the old device from “trusted devices”? From the top of settings, select your name, scroll to bottom to see trusted devices. I’m having the same issue, says health data, maps and passwords not synching? I don’t use the health data, and don’t save passwords. Someone mentioned Google maps? I’ve had many other issues as well, now wondering if it is referencing Google apps? I would not think Apple would track passwords on Google. And Health is turned off, I’ve never used it, but at one point, it had someone else’s data in it? And I really wonder what passwords are sharing with the cloud?

I'm experiencing this issue across all devices after upgrading to iphone 15 and the newest OS on everything. My health, fitness, wallet, etc. is not syncing and messages and other data is very inconsistent now.

Are you saying that the reset data option truly didn't erase your health or fitness data? I'm still waiting to hear back from apple after a 3 hour call last Saturday but will share this thread with them if you can confirm you really didn't lose anything in the reset!

Had same issues, worked it for 4hrs (dirty loop), then msg apple apple teir 1 couldn’t help, then teir 1 offered apple advance call back, i was too hungry and tire..lol.

Google search led to: give Credit to “foneDog’s blog” i can’t post link kinda risky. Am sure if you search you’ll find it.

SOLUTION:

Do iCloud Backup (iCB) manually, then auto (iCB) will work;

MUST BE ON/ACTIVE RULES

Rule #1.  iCloud

Rule #2 Passwords/Keychain

Rule #3 iCloud Backup

Please lmk if that helps, if not what other issue are you having?

My mother has been getting this same message and i think i know the source of the problem. Another bit of fallout is that it logs her out of Facetime and so when i try to call her it shows she is unavailable on FT. If she tries to call me she has to sign in but since i am usually the one calling her she often doesn't know she is logged out of it.

she doesn’t have 2FA turned on. The reasons for this are twofold. She doesn’t have another Apple device or a cell phone and she doesn’t use Apple Wallet. She is 91 years old and doesn’t shop or bank online and therefore has nothing other than email on her iPad. There is nothing she needs to worry about having secure access to so we are really loathe to activate 2FA. The landline is in a different room and at her age if the landline rings she gets up and goes to the room with the phone which isn’t where her iPad is and then having to scramble to have a piece of paper and a pen handy to write down the code Apple would give her over the phone is unrealistic.

I haven’t found the solution to this yet. We tried to delete the Health App as she doesn’t use it but she we couldn’t. As for Keychain backing up her passwords she only needs that when we get her a new iPad every 5 years or so!
