Can we make this the MegaThread for iPhone 15 users NOT able to charge their device anymore using MagSafe/Wireless Charging?

Currently, I have a pending ticket with Apple Support regarding this issue but to Apple’s knowledge, they’ve only received one report about this.

I see several posts on here regarding this issue dating back a few weeks ago with no resolution.

Creating a MegaThread for Apple Support will be a long shot since Apple really doesn’t use the Discussions website when handling tickets but maybe it’ll route other users experiencing this issue, to the proper channels of reporting it so Apple Support can have a collection of reports regarding this instead of the one report they currently have.

Found this fix after experiencing the same issue and it worked!

How to fix it

The steps are easy and painless. Just keep in mind that you need to do them in quick succession.

  • With your iPhone unlocked, quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
  • Then immediately after, press and release the Volume Down button.
  • Now press and hold the side / power button until the screen turns off and the Apple logo appears.
  • Release the button and let your iPhone boot up.

Now, try that same MagSafe charger that was acting up. See if it starts charging, and make sure it continues to charge after a few minutes. If it does, you should be in the clear. Otherwise, it may be time to consult Apple customer support.

“Apparently there is a common issue.”

There actually is, create a ticket with support if you haven’t already. The more tickets that come in with this issue, the better.

Here’s a summary of my experience with this issue. I posted this 2 days ago on several different posts on here with a similar issue…

I contacted support about this same exact issue and when they looked in their records to see if this was a reported issue, I was shocked when they told me only 1 person reported this issue.

Here’s a list of the few threads I saw (including this one) with the exact same issue with MagSafe/Wireless Charging on iPhone 15s. There’s more, but I’m too lazy to collect every single one lol.

When I mentioned this “discussions website” to Apple Support via phone support, and told them there’s more than just one person experiencing this issue, support told me they don’t monitor this website, which is unfortunate because if they did, a patch for this bug could’ve been in the works WEEKS AGO just in-time for the next iOS 17 iteration update that’ll be released.

I have multiple MagSafe charges (including the Apple branded one), and they all act the same way when using my iPhone 15 Pro Max. They’ll charge for a few seconds or a few minutes then disconnect completely. I had to switch to just using a USB-C cable that’s connected straight to the wall and the phone because MagSafe just doesn’t work anymore for the past 24hrs to 48hrs.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max is running iOS 17.0.3.

Just want to report that I’m having a similar issue, however, it is slightly different.

I have a Belmont BoostUp charger purchased from an Apple Store. It is a 5W model with an indicator light.

I’ve found that this charger does not charge my 15 Pro in a significant manner. When placing my phone on the charger, the phone detects that it is charging and does not change its status. However, the charger reports differently. After about 30 seconds, the chargers indicator light goes from white (normal) to amber (error when charging), then the light turns off and after a few seconds, goes back to white where it repeats.

I’ve used this charger for 4 years on my 12 Pro and on another 13 Pro without issue.

I brought this charger to an Apple Store where I can confirm that this Belkin Qi Certified charger does not charge any of the iPhone 15 or 15 Pro models, but has no issues charging other older devices.

My 15 Pro does not detect any power disconnection, however, leaving the phone on this charger overnight only results in about 15% increase in battery percentage.

Yeah it is infuriating especially for those of us who rely on wireless charging daily for our phones, earbuds, and watches.

Since each user experience with this bug is slightly different and we’re all either using a case or not, and we all have different wireless charging solutions…

The best thing to do, is to call Apple support, inform them about your experience with this bug, so there’ll be multiple reports called in about the issue.

The more reports made the better.

If you reported this issue to Apple Support and have a case with them, you’re doing the right thing because at this point, they’ve been telling everyone who calls in about this issue with the iPhone 15s, “they’re oblivious to it and haven’t had any reports of it”, they either want people to bring their iPhone 15s in to get service or blaming the issue on the NON Apple MagSafe chargers.

Luckily for me, I have the official Apple branded MagSafe charger and other third party MagSafe chargers that the issue is happening with and I own an iPhone 13 Pro Max that works with all my MagSafe chargers with no issues, so there’s no running around the issue with me like they’re doing with others.

Having this issue in my 2022 Buick Enclave. The fact that my car wireless charging is infuriating me since I rely on it so much for road trips. I’m starting to regret my iPhone 15 pro max purchase!! Should’ve stuck with my iPhone 13 Pro Max - the wireless charging worked perfectly and I’m using Casetify cases for each and also tried the 15 without the case to be sure. Nothing is working.

Did they give you a Senior Advisor? If so, you can call in now and request for a new Senior Advisor to work on your case.

The only thing I’m waiting on, is for the engineers to tell my Senior Advisor what’s next as far as testing (if more are needed). We did several already throughout the months, so it shouldn’t be long before I receive a callback to see if 17.2 fix anything which my answer will be NO.
