Using my iP7 with iOS 11.0.3, the volume during phone calls is working fine, so I can't say that your issue is software related.

Ringer volume: adjust it when you are in lock screen. Earpiece volume: adjust it while in a phone call.

If nothing changes, I would suggest that you try some other steps (and test after each attempts):

Force restart your device (since I don't know your iPhone model, please chose among the 3 methods in 1st paragraph of the following user support guide):

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

If nothing helps, take a look at this article:

If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone - Apple Support

If volume doesn't change, I'd try to install a fresh copy of iOS on your device. Make a full backup of your iPhone content, and then restore it to factory settings, and set it up as new (testing it before restoring from previous backup):

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

In the issue still persists, contact your nearest Apple Store or AASP and have your device inspected.

Giulio

I am with you! Apple seems to have a big issue with volume during calls! Look at the long list of people having this issue! We have an iphone 6 plus and 7 plus, both not suitable for making a proper call. And all the tips (which looks like a recurring list of the same tips) do NOT seem to help (at least for me). You have to switch on the speaker and shout out your lungs during calling, which is also very nice for the environment. And even worse, also handsfree calling in your car suffers from this issue! In general, if you want a mobile for calling, buy another brand! Iphones are nice for texting, facebook and making photos (not the best, but ok), but not for making a call!

I had a problem with extremely low volume on my Iphone 6 - SOLVED!.

Other functions like, speaker, bluetooth were OK.

The solution was a big surprise to myself - since I was sure it was SW or a setting somewhere.

I carefully cleaned the little slot in the glas in the frontside of the phone where the sound comes out in normal use. I used a little piece of cotton with a little water/soap for dishwashing - do not soak it in water - did this app 5 times. I then used alcohol - did this app 5 times.

I almost cannot believe the change it did ;o) I had to adjust the volume down again.

So in my case it wasn't SW or settings - but simply dirt (not visible to me) that had to be mechanically remowed.

User uploaded fileMe too. I tried reaching out to Apple about it and they insist that it’s not a software issue and after testing and saying it’s not a hardware issue still wanted to send me to a technician to further check my phone and then I would have to pay for what they find wrong. I have troubleshooted every possible way and I know there are many others with the same issue. It can’t be a coincidence that so many people have the same issue after a software update. I refuse to pay for something they need to get right. I’m almost tempted to switch to Android. Lol. Look at just this one post and how many people have the same problem.

Hi Rajib, These are (some of) the posts WRT GPS issues with iOS 11.xx:

iPhone 6 GPS stop working upgrading to IOS 11 (including 11.2.1)

GPS not working after update to IOS11

GPS not working properly after upgrade to iOS 11

GPS Totally Stuffed since iOS 11

This one details issues with different iPhones up to the iPhone X and using Apple Maps:

apple maps not working after ios 11 update?

I have the GPS problem which started somewhere in the iOS 11 update cycle and persists today. It is a 128Gb iPhone 6. I had similar problems on a 64Gb iPhone 6s, but they (mostly) went away after 11.3 (occasionally I get the GPS tracking about 10m to the right and behind where I am with a round blob instead of the triangle in Waze, but, and since this isn't Apple software, I am sure I will be told to use Apple Maps. I believe there are other posts, the first one runs to 9 Pages and is current, the others one or two pages. The bottom line is that since iOS 11.xx there have been GPS problems. The big issue is that it is not EVERY iPhone or it is not any one model of iPhone. It seems random, but I am sure the is a common cause. And, worryingly, nothing from Apple, they just ignore these sorts of issues and hope they go away.

I have the same problem with my IPhone 7 Plus. Before iOS upgrade to 11.0.x, volume was working fine, now it is really low and mainly in Cars hands free ... even for the music it’s really low... I have to increase to the full volume of my car in order to listen music.... it’s serious issue with iOS 11.x

Apple team, please fix this issue ASAP. Thanks

I called Apple senior advisor and they ran a diagnostic check. The hardware and the software passed 100%. I called my friend, who has the same iPhone 7 plus, and he said that his talk volume is great. That really puzzled me what is going on. I can think of only one thing, and that is some of the iPhone 7's are defective are defective. I am one month after the warranty.

I think I found a solution online. I folowed https://www.unlockboot.com/low-call-volume-on-iphone-7-plus-7-fix/

What helped me is #1 and #4. I hear 50% better. Still not as good as my wife's, who is seldom uses her phone.

The conclusion: The ear speaker slot gets dirt from around us, oils from the face skin, plus dust, which is not easy to clean, because it penetrates through tiny holes in the iPhone mesh. So I used the toothpick and my vacuum cleaner.
