Problem Bootcamp Windows 10 & Bluetooth

Hello,

on my new iMac Pro Windows 10 created with Bootcamp, Bluetooth does not function anymore.

The problem is, that the original iMac Pro Magic Keyboard and the also original Magic Mouse 2 seems to pair but they get no connection ( keyboard + mouse no response ).

Before i had updated to MacOS 10.13.3 everything went well, both, keyboard and mouse were okay.

Reinstalling the Bootcamp Windows drivers does not have any success, same problem as before.

Any suggestions wether the Bluetooth problem has to due with the MacOS update and therefore the newly installed Windows drivers are also corrupted ?

Many thanks in advance ...

Klaus

Can you try the following please for me please? It solved my issue where the trackpad and keyboard worked for a little while, then stopped responded despite the deviced being listed as 'paired' and connected.

In Windows, go into Control Panel > Device Manager, then expand the Bluetooth (you can also type 'Device Manager' in search and launch it that way).

Find 'Bluetooth Radio' and go into properties, then go into 'Power Management'.

Uncheck the box that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK.

You may need to reboot to get the devices working properly again, then it should be fixed.

I hope this helps.

Can someone explain it to me?

You will generate a new set of internal link keys. Do the MT2/MK2 devices work when you switch back to macOS? The lIghtning connection and the BT connection have two different MAC addresses. If not, that is a bug in the MT2/MK2 implementation.

Also, iMac Pro is a very different animal from a standard iMac.

That is because, in Windows 10, users cannot select or deselect individual updates. To temporarily prevent an update from installing, first, go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3183922/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-wi ndows-update-from-reinstalling-in-windo and download the tool lined out on that page. Then uninstall the update, but DO NOT restart the PC just yet. Then run the tool you downloaded from the page mentioned above and select the updates you do not wish to install.

As you say, the best solution for the moment is to simply use alternative (pointing) devices, if at all possible. That way, you’ll be able to use Windows without sacrificing security and the Mac’s “native” devices stay working properly when in MacOS…

Alternative OS-specific pointing devices lead to confusion and problems with tracking, which is which. The other aspect is the financial outlay to have two sets of such. If anyone has used Accessibility (similar to Ease of Access in Windows), it is a possible alternative, to control macOS and use pointing devices on the Windows side only.

Apple sees the Windows/Bootcamp market as a very small segment of it's overall market. Unless every Mac sold was used to run Windows, it is unlikely that Apple will do anything. The BC drivers are OEM'd by Apple from Microsoft. If Microsoft wants to sell feature parity between the macOS and Windows side, on Macs, it should come from Microsoft, not Apple.

It's a nonsense that Apple behave in this way. They haven't updated the BC Control Panel for years, and are showing total disregard for the many Mac owners who also run Windows. BC is an advertised feature of buying Macs, so Apple should respect those who want to use their products in that manner.

I disagree that it's a MS thing, it is down to Apple to put that (and a few other) trivial change into the BC panel. Not everyone - and I don't include myself - wants, or even knows how, to make registry changes.

Very annoying.

Currently on an iMac Pro running macOS 10.13.4 and Windows 10 with latest April 2018 updates in bootcamp. I have no bluetooth in Device Manager.

Have tried to install the latest broadcom bluetooth drivers from bootcamp but the installer errors out unable to install Apples driver.

I was able to install the broadcom bluetooth driver from bootcamp but still no bluetooth in Device Manager

Device Manager shows no bluetooth, showing hidden devices also doesn't show any bluetooth

Trying to set up any bluetooth devices errors with unable to find bluetooth device, mouse, keyboard, or beats headphones.

Tried turning on/off airport mode still no bluetooth

I reinstalled Win 10 from a previous back up I had and managed to get bluetooth back and working except the MM 2 still doesn't work, installed all the latest Win 10 updates up to April 2018, looked for the KB4088776 update to remove but it wasn't there.

Also now my iMac Pro speakers don't work and I can't install any of the Bootcamp drivers provided by Apple as .exe installers, they just error out.

I actually don’t think it to be as unlikely as you say it is, seeing as Microsoft has had a dedicated Mac Business Unit (MacBU) for decades. Their main focus has been, and still is, creating Mac software such as Microsoft Office for Mac, but I would think they are also there to make sure things cooperate nicely when Microsoft releases an update to Windows, so as not to hamper users who are running Windows on their Macs, through Boot Camp. Obviously, they have mist a critical step in the process leading up to the updates causing our issue. But you can rest assured that it would be fairly important, to say the least, that such a process would be in place for Apple computers, as there are many Mac users who run Windows while at work, for example.
