Apple Music skipping

I use my iPhone a lot for music playback. After upgrading to 11.3, I've started to have problems with glitching and skipping while listening to music. I'm using a iPhone 6S with a new battery installed by Apple a few weeks ago. Playback problems occur when using wired headphones (3.5 analog), the iPhone speaker and also JBL Clip 2 bluetooth speaker. All of the songs I've had skipping problems were downloaded to the phone. I've also had a problem with playing Beats1 on-demand shows. Anyone else having issues?

I don’t want to reinstall or to make any other actions. It was working perfect before the ugly update. Fix your bugs in your OS!

Steve Jobs would agree that your advice is redicilous. Apple device should work perfectly after update, especially when it comes to a basic apps like music.

Wake up and start working!

Having jitter problem on my iPhone 7 and iPad (2018) as well.

I have tested using AirPods and Sony WH-1000XM2, which both of them are Bluetooth devices, jittering when playing some music.

Anyway, same that the wired earphones are ok.

BTW, I’ve tried restarting iPhone, reinstalling Apple Music, redownloading songs...... none of them work.

Having the same problem. I see in the comment section I’m not the only one. Have already tried all solutions within reason (To sugest we delete preinstalled apps to solve an uppdate-related problem is ridiculous). Fix this problem quickly and appologise rather than dumping the problem on the users! Otherwise you will have lost a customer. I only stick with iPhone for the reliability. If you keep giving us unfinished, buggy updates, then theres really no point in paying more for your product right? Sorry for the rant, but this stuff is important

Thank you, but wouldn't a full restore involve restoring from a backup of the exact same iOS? Theoretically, how would this fix the problem? Also, doing a full restore and re-calibrating settings, passwords etc. is a time-consuming headache.

Since Apple discontinued the iPod, the iPhone IS the iPod now, and music listeners are getting shafted here and forced to jump through hoops to troubleshoot the problem. Apple needs to figure it out and release an iOS update quickly.

Decade long Apple user here, and becoming less and less impressed with this brand with each passing year.

I have the same for Music Player and live stream (App) music, on iPhone 7 and it’s only happened since the 11.3 update.

I’ve tried resetting, reinstalling and power cycles but nothing has fixed it.

Interestingly, when the phone in asleep (blank screen) and you get stuttering, lifting the phone to wake it immediately clears the stuttering.

Please fix this Apple as I can’t use my phone to play and kind of audio any more!

I'll second billyboy. I did the full icloud backup>erase all>restore and it appears to have cleared up the clipping, skipping, stuttering. For reference, any audio playing app was skipping: Audible, Podcasts, Music. This was true for downloaded or streamed content. Also, the phone could be awake sleeping or locked. I'd have to pause for 15-20 seconds, rewind a bit and it would clear up for a while.

I did the same – – a full restore. Unfortunately, it was a disaster because of a loop bug in the restore process. After clearing that up, I also had to do a full reset of all my settings. And yes, this is hours of work especially if it doesn’t go smoothly.

With that, I have only used it for two hours of music, but it has been OK so far. I won’t claim victory yet over Apple incompetence until I give it a couple more days. Will report back.

I regret to report that the "full restore" was only temporarily successful.

On my drive home, heard the momentary music "skip" and then it came back in full force, fully distorted.

Ironically, playing podcasts earlier through the iPhone speaker there were no glitches, pops, or stutters. I was feeling confident this would work.

And maybe the full restore fixes that piece, but those of us using iPhone through apple CarPlay for music are still stuck with this disaster.

This is one of many issues I've had with Apple lately. Sad to see their QC go so downhill. Time to investigate downgrading my ios.

I was very pessimistic and didn’t want to do it either, but was eventually willing to try anything since I couldn’t listen to audio longer than a minute without problems.

I backed up the phone and did a full restore from that backup. 100% fixed. No problems since (four days now, and I use the phone for music listening at least five hours a day). Not sure why another user still has problems after a full restore, but odds are the full restore will work (its worked for more than a couple people here).

Just make sure to do it only when you have a couple hours to spare and you don’t anticipate having to use your phone during that time.
