Apple Music skipping

I use my iPhone a lot for music playback. After upgrading to 11.3, I've started to have problems with glitching and skipping while listening to music. I'm using a iPhone 6S with a new battery installed by Apple a few weeks ago. Playback problems occur when using wired headphones (3.5 analog), the iPhone speaker and also JBL Clip 2 bluetooth speaker. All of the songs I've had skipping problems were downloaded to the phone. I've also had a problem with playing Beats1 on-demand shows. Anyone else having issues?

I don’t want to reinstall or to make any other actions. It was working perfect before the ugly update. Fix your bugs in your OS!

Steve Jobs would agree that your advice is redicilous. Apple device should work perfectly after update, especially when it comes to a basic apps like music.

Wake up and start working!

I would like to add my name to the list of people who are having this problem, on a 5th Generation iPad (WiFi only), which I bought new at the Apple Store, running iOS 11.3.1. I notice the glitches most often in the Music app (but then I don't really listen to Spotify or Pandora).

Started happening about a month or two ago (probably with the 11.3 update). It's weirdly reminiscent of when you'd listen to a vinyl record in the '70s and a scratch would cause the needle to repeat the same part of the song over and over again, or skip ahead to a later part of the track -- something you wouldn't expect from 2018 technology.

It's definitely not a flaw in the music file, because if I replay the exact same track after experiencing the problem, the glitches occur at different points in the track, and in some cases, replaying the same track again causes it to play just fine.

It also seems to happen more often when I start playing music in the Music app after having NOT played music on the app for a while. After a while, the problem seems to go away -- most of the time.

It's definitely something Apple needs to look into and fix, sooner than later.

So I’ve been experiencing the same problem on my iPhone 6S, 64gb. A solution, albeit it temporary, has been to a turn off the passcode feature. Doing so has stopped the glitch/skipping completely even when the phone is locked. Again this may be a temporary solution, but at least I can now listen to music/podcasts without this problem.

I updated to 11.4 yesterday, and the problem has already happened to me twice today. Of all the temporary fixes offered in this thread, yours has worked the best for me. When the audio cuts out, I just pause and wait for a very faint "click" or "pop," then press play again.

Just to clarify, this faint click or pop can also be heard a few seconds after pausing normally, and sometimes between pressing play and playback actually starting, depending on how long playback has been paused. Seems reasonable to intuit that the sound comes from the driver toggling on or off.

So, it's 11.4 now. How is it going, folks?

Me personally, i restored the phone more than a month ago and hadn't been meeting the problem since then. But after 11.4 upgrade a couple of times or more I have faced a little pause when playing tracks downloaded, no internet connection whatsoever. Am I going to suffer from this problem till the rest of my iPhone experience?

Outrageous.

Confirming since upgrading to 11.4 my iPhone 7 Plus is now worse than it was on the previous update. The jittering music only seems to happen for me when I am playing music and have the Apple email app open. When I close the email app and lock the screen that is when the jittering starts for me.

Before locking the screen the music is playing fine.

Same Problem. SO frustrated at Apple's trend toward sloppy work. Also frustrated with Apple's decline in user interface design. I'm a LONG LONG time Apple user and fan, but things have changed ... for the worse. The "Experience" has sadly fallen from Stellar to Frustrating. This one issue (garbled audio) is problem that should have been caught prior to the iOS release. The iPhone (according to Jobs) was supposed to be 1) a revolutionary mobile phone. 2) a breakthrough Internet communications device.3) a widescreen iPod with touch controls (revision that stutters and garbles your music).

Unimpressed, and disappointed. Fix this issue and get back to creating the miraculous, wonderful, delightful, useful things that Apple is (used to be) known for.

Same problem here on iPhone 6s, even after upgrading to 11.4. Happens constantly. Worse when the phone is locked. Does not just affect music or podcast playback, but phone calls as well.

Listening to talk radio, I've even heard this problem affect the audio of people calling in to do interviews.

How Apple has not already fixed this problem is baffling, given that three releases (11.3, 11.3.1, 11.4) have been deployed since people started complaining.

Okay, now it's official. The problem perisists on iOS11.4 devices. It usually happens when I press the play button and lock the screen. And after a few seconds here it comes. Seems something changed but not much. ****, i'm using all my Apple devices for drumming (metronome, playback and all that) and how can I rely on iPhone now? Thanks iPad works well. Only iPhone impacted.

Apple do something ASAP! Seems there's no much action going on in this direction.

Any info on how it goes on iOS12 beta?

I am listening with original headphones with lightning cable... My Music stops randomly and I have to plug out my headphones and plug it in again.... Hope this is the same Problem you have... Can anyone comfirm my Problem? I think it has something to do with the lightning port??? I had the same problem after 11.4. but not so often... Sometimes it happens when I hit the lightning plug (while connected in the phone) but I cant reproduce the problem... Sorry for my english... Can anyone confirm? It happens with all apps... Napster, Audible, Youtube... Phone Calls....

This is the same for me, stuttering on lightening wired connection to my Bose headphones. Trying some inexpensive Bluetooth earbuds and no skipping, interesting.

iPhone 7 Plus, 256G, iOS 11.4

I didn't have the skipping in 11.3, it happened just after the iOS 11.4 update.

Sigh, I use my iPhone Music most of the day at work. We have the new "open office" setup and I need to drown out the noise; this is frustrating.
