Apple Music skipping

I use my iPhone a lot for music playback. After upgrading to 11.3, I've started to have problems with glitching and skipping while listening to music. I'm using a iPhone 6S with a new battery installed by Apple a few weeks ago. Playback problems occur when using wired headphones (3.5 analog), the iPhone speaker and also JBL Clip 2 bluetooth speaker. All of the songs I've had skipping problems were downloaded to the phone. I've also had a problem with playing Beats1 on-demand shows. Anyone else having issues?

I don’t want to reinstall or to make any other actions. It was working perfect before the ugly update. Fix your bugs in your OS!

Steve Jobs would agree that your advice is redicilous. Apple device should work perfectly after update, especially when it comes to a basic apps like music.

Wake up and start working!

Me too! like to listen to podcasts when I walk my dog in the mornings and as of recently the phone will just randomly skip to the next episode or skip through whatever remaining episodes are queued up to play and it can make it through before I can wrestle it out of my running belt. OR it will just pause everything out of no where completely unprompted. So I’ll then have to get it out and press play to get it started again or to try to stop it from shuffling through episodes anywhere from 5-15 times during a 30-45 walk! Plus.. I feel like my phone is always hot now??

I’m having the exact same issue on my iPhone 6 on iOS 11.4! Music playing from the music app skips, glitches, pauses, plays weird electronic buzzing sounds whether I’m playing through Apple Music or installed music...I can’t even get through a single song without it stuffing up! So sick of Apple software not working for me 😭 🏼♀ At least emojis still work I guess...for now...

Mine is doing exactly the same!

I have iPhone 6 plus on iOS 11.4.

It happens to me on wireless headphones, wired headphones, Apple music, Podcast applications, everything. I spoke with Apple support and they told me to backup to iTunes, not exactly helpful is it!

I cant help but wonder that apple have decided that since they've been found out about slowing phones down for older models. That they're now making iOS really buggy for users who use older phones.

SORT IT OUT APPLE!

Morning to all those suffering from this freaking problem. Can Apple put up a hotline with psychologist help for us at least? Therapy courses or something? Feels like it never ends and we'll have to just live with it 🙂 Does someone lead the counting how many days have past since that happened to us, folks?

Been rehearsing with my band recently using tempo app for a click (metronome), and that b**** glitched as much as it could. You can't rely on apple devices if you're musician. That's disgrace!

Having same issues - an overnight update to 11.4 on Tuesday has caused all my Podcast playbacks to go crazy, with Siri interupting (phoning random contacts), podcasts playing when I am on the phone. The audio is basically now a mess. This needs an urgent fix and from the post this has been going on since March. This really is a major issue. I have a long commute and rely on the phone to help get me through it. Please prioritise a fix ASAP.

I’m having the exact issue that I never had before updating. It’s nit the music itself, because the glitching moves, and isn’t in the same place when you play it again... force restarting doesn’t help, it still happens just in a different song. Deleting music won’t solve issue, because it’s not the songs themselves but an issue with the software’s playback of it. It’s very true that before Mr. Jobs past away, you didn’t have issues like these, as he wouldn’t have released software until it was right... I suggest that Apple fixes the issue with the software and soon, otherwise their brand will get tarnished and they will lose longtime customers. 😘

I went ahead and did a full reset and restore of my iPhone when 10.4 was released. The problems are still there. My distorted audio problem now seems to only happen now when I'm using CarPlay. The 1 second skip still happens and seems to be related to the auto-locking of the phone. Manually locking the phone prevents the skipping as others have noted. After the backup and restore I of course had to download all of my music again so this does not seem to be related to the music files being corrupted.

I'm currently running the 10.4.1 beta.

My workaround with CarPlay is setting it so it is NOT allowed while locked. This will require your phone to be unlocked when you connect. This plus NOT using Bluetooth pairing seems to minimize the worst of the issue but I still get occasional skipping—just no longer the garbled distorted music as before.

I have an iPhone 8 and running iOS 11.4. I’m having the same problems. I thought it was the speaker issues, but my family’s iPhones have no issues playing on the same speakers. Only way I can get around it is to disconnect and reconnect but that’s not ideal.

And yes, this happened after I upgraded the iOS software.
