Bluetooth Voice Becomes REALLY Slow

At least once a day on conference calls via bluetooth headsets (several types - all equal) the voice I hear is slowed down (sounds very deep and is mostly unintelligible).

To fix, I switch to iPhone or Speaker and back or the call simply drops.

The person I am speaking to can hear that my voice has slowed down. (Sounds like when the voice of an informant is masked on tv.)

Other times I will lose all sound coming out of the call, however the call continues. Redialing into the call does not restore the sound. Only way to fix seems to be a hard reboot of the phone.

I have an iPhone 7+ iOS 11.3

Why will Apple not admit there is a problem?

It isn’t everyone. My wife’s phone is fine, mine isn’t. Why not replace mine instead of blaming ATT, Verizon.

Apple Store told me Apple Care doesn’t cover software only hardware. The software or the hardware is failing, doesn’t matter to me....phone doesn’t work it should be replaced.

Same problem in France with Iphone 7+ running iOS 11.4 on the Orange network. I have been using my iPhone for work and clients tell me they can also hear it. It's quite embarrassing. I going to have to finally give up on iPhones. It's the the last straw for me - I can't believe so many people have the same issue for so long and there is no resolution.

PS: and I'm not talking about my BeatsX that died 1 month after the warranty expiration or my previous iPhone 7+ which was supposed to be water resistant died after 10mn sitting on a table in the rain.😠

Good point! It's never happened in my car either (2007 Camry), which obviously has some old school Bluetooth tech.

It happens to me on EVERY call with my Beats Solo 3 headset. And happens on most calls with my eMeet bluetooth conference room speaker. Both of those would be rather new bluetooth units, so presumably would be using whatever the latest revision of the protocol offers.

I too have had this problem for months and have an iPhone 7, 128GB. I am on calls all day for work and it happens on almost every call. I thought it was my headset so I went out and paid $150 for a new headset and it is still happening. Why isn't Apple doing something about this? It is embarrassing when I am on the phone with customers all day. I am told I also sound like a chipmunk!

I went to an Apple store last week because I have the same problem with a Plantronics professional headset and other bluetooth devices (conferencing speakers, etc). The Genius bar had no clue where the problem was coming from: I even did a call in front of them and the issue came up. They just said to try restoring completely the iphone without using a back-up 😕....sure. It's such a shame.

Same issue here. Apple Support had me reset network settings. I've spent multiple trips to Apple Store, and they replaced my iphone7 even though it was out of warranty. And they have sent me 2 beatsX replacements. Only happens on bluetooth (happens in vehicle as well).

Is Apple recording our phone calls? Hard to believe with the amount of posts that they still claim never to have heard of this issue when I call for support??? Hmmmm.......

I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE! I use an iPhone 8 and nearly every single phone call will have an issue when using bluetooth. I thought it was my Jabra headset ($200+ purchase) so I bought some Airpods ($150+ purchase) and still have the same issues. I am on customer calls daily and it's extremely embarrassing when I turn into a chipmunk and everyone starts laughing at me. It totally derails my calls and is completely unprofessional. I will have no choice but to switch back to google if this can't get fixed.

Has this issue been addressed yet? I've had this Bull frog/Chipmunk issue now for more than 8 months. I've had my phone swapped out by apple with a Brand new unit and still having this issue. Apple, we need this addressed. I spend hours a day on conference calls. Unable to use BT at all. I've had these issues with 2 sets of AirPods and 2 different cars. It's not a carrier issue. It's an Apple issue. I've drank the Kool-aid and have everything Apple, but this lack of support has me thinking I need to go back to Android and i desperately do not want to do that, but i have to use Bluetooth.
