spreediscount
is this a virus - how can I stop these amazing amazon discount offers from spreediscount.com? It looks like a phishing pop up to me and it pops up and removes my history so I can’t back out of it.

Check to see if Safari is syncing to iCloud.
1. go to settings
2. click on your name
3. click on iCloud
4. A list of apps using iCloud will show up. If Safari is checked, unclick it (turn it off).
5. Clear your browser history as described in previous posts
I’ve has this issue on my iPad for about a week on eBay I cleared the website history. It came back. I did a factory reset. It came back. I kept redoing this because it at least was a temporary fix.
This morning, while in Safari, I clicked on the ”layer” icon which shows all the tabs that are open. I noticed a list of sites below the tabs. I hadn’t seen this before. I looked closely and the only thing listed was the spree discount stuff. Above the list was a line. Above the line was a cloud icon, which made me wonder if it was being downloaded from an iCloud backup, which I thought I had turned off all uses of. Apparently not. Safari was set up to sync with iCloud, which apparently had a backup that was syncing to my iPad. I deleted the backup in the iCloud and turned off Safari using iCloud. Since I did that, it hasn’t come back.
It’s happening to me too. The only constant I’ve found is that it doesn’t do it on cellular, only on Comcast WiFi. Is it possible that this is a Comcast network infection?
I do believe it a yahoo problem but other site such as aol and eBay have been affected. But the key is to block the site until this issue is solved. Try the fix above.
I am having the problem on my iPhone so I can’t do the recommended steps. What is the recommendation for iPhones with the issue. Yahoo just recommends ad blockers and malware detectors which do nothing for this issue.
I have been seeing this also in the last day or so, but only on iPad Safari. Same for you or are you seeing that on other platform(s)?
Are you getting these pop-ups when visiting any specific website(s)?
Same here, only eBay and only on iPad. Doesn't seem to happen when browsing ebay NOT logged in, but that's not a solution. I've had success avoiding it by first going to eBay home page, request desktop site (via the share button), and then visiting various item pages. (As far as listing items for sale, the eBay app appears unaffected, so you might try that, even though it's not a solution either.)
Thank you for the tips. I'll try them. I switched to my desktop to finish the listings. Hopefully, eBay will be able to block it on their website and/or Apple will issues a fix for it. Very irritating!
I am seeing this now on all 3 browsers, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. First noticed on eBay, now Yahoo.Finance, this is getting very annoying, so far only affecting my iPad Pro, My iPhone SE and iMac are so far unaffected. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve had the spreediscount problem for over a month now. I see it is not just me. Why has there not been a real fix yet? Apple, are you too busy counting your $1 trillion market cap and can‘t actually be bothered with the users of your Ware?????????
It’s called speed test...it tests your speed by pinging...upload and download speeds...but unfortunately within 24 hours I am getting the same crap again.....I would then no that yahoo or amazon would be all over this pop up scam, that is driving everyone crazy......
Same thing happening to my brand new VERY expensive iPad Pro. It’s drving me nuts. I’ve gone into Apple store twice to fix it. Called Apple support three times yesterday to fix it yet it keeps coming back! Apple GET IT TOGETHER and fix this horrible spree discount infection! I was told it’s impossible to get a virus on these new devices WRONG!
I have few apps on the ipad. The usual social media apps, tether for wifi, toyota, chrome, and ebay. Pretty lame for such g rated apps and still get an annoying pop up virus. I use ebay more than amazon... must be ebay through chrome. Has anyone used chrome, search through listings, then you click into a listing from a listing (closer to the bottom), and the page has a totally different layout? Is that the rabbit hole to this? It looks like it’s ebay, but it‘s not ebay’s format.
Same here. Reset the network connection, cleared website data and history. But next day it was back on my iPad.
Really need Apple to step up and provide a fix for this virus and open security risk. I have never downloaded any non-company app (from my firm) and is now a hostage that cannot access Finance.yahoo.com without being blocked by this virus....
BTW: the adblocker works so well, that only half the finance.yahoo.com webpage loads. If I reload without the blocker. Spreediscount is back.. So, Norton adblock works to stop the adcrap, but it also stops the webpage from loading completely. So, it looks like symptoms are removed, but not the real cause. Apple: NEED you help!!
I do not use Yahoo for anything and this spree discount pop up infected my iPad and iPhone like 2 weeks ago. I’ve called Support numerous times. We clear out history but the stupid thing keeps coming back. I’m beyond p*ssed about this and all the time I’ve spent trying to get rid of it. Even went into the Apple Store twice and they couldn’t fix it either. I think it pops up with Huff Post but not always. It’s random and the most annoying thing I’ve ever dealt with. After spending $2k on these brand new devices, it really ticks me off that this is even an issue!
APPLE, FIX THIS NOW!!!
I don’t think that would work. I did a hard reset direct from iTunes and registered my iPad as a new without Signing in to iTunes and using back up data. That thing came right back. But I am curious about layering can you explain in detail how you do that. Thanks.
