is this a virus - how can I stop these amazing amazon discount offers from spreediscount.com? It looks like a phishing pop up to me and it pops up and removes my history so I can’t back out of it.

Check to see if Safari is syncing to iCloud.
1. go to settings
2. click on your name
3. click on iCloud
4. A list of apps using iCloud will show up. If Safari is checked, unclick it (turn it off).
5. Clear your browser history as described in previous posts
I’ve has this issue on my iPad for about a week on eBay I cleared the website history. It came back. I did a factory reset. It came back. I kept redoing this because it at least was a temporary fix.
This morning, while in Safari, I clicked on the ”layer” icon which shows all the tabs that are open. I noticed a list of sites below the tabs. I hadn’t seen this before. I looked closely and the only thing listed was the spree discount stuff. Above the list was a line. Above the line was a cloud icon, which made me wonder if it was being downloaded from an iCloud backup, which I thought I had turned off all uses of. Apparently not. Safari was set up to sync with iCloud, which apparently had a backup that was syncing to my iPad. I deleted the backup in the iCloud and turned off Safari using iCloud. Since I did that, it hasn’t come back.
For me, none. I have not downloaded any apps recently. So, I don’t think it’s always related to downloading apps.
Yeah, this my concern as well. I would hate to think that an automatic upgrade for say, Lightroom might be affected by this.
Apple......GET THIS RESOLVED, ASAP!!
I removed that Speedtest app and it made no difference. Problem persists.
9/10/2018 at 1046pm....Just found something about it being a known issue that yahoo is working on a fix. Supposedly if you open yahoo fantasy sports app, it is not an issue.
Correct. Apps are no issue.... I used the eBay app without incident. I wonder if eBay is looking into it too....
Didn't work for me 😟
Yep, like I said, one day without ‘Spree’ ads and counting, still holding my breath, though.
No.... I have Cox.
Not working for me. Any other suggestions?
Oops! Bad memory.... AdBlock is a bargain price of $1.99, not $4.99..... 😄
Happens to me on Yahoo and eBay..... This is sooooooo frustrating!
All of the suggestions here are crap. Nothing works. This is a Chinese virus.
pure scumbags at work
Not really necessarily, but a more secure form of wed data. Glad it worked out for you. I tried so many things I included everything, just in case.
I followed your instructions and now see restricted blank page. Still can’t see content for the website I was wanted to view. Argh! Any new suggestions?
