Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

I have this issue on a 2019 BMW i3 using wireless CarPlay with my iPhone 11 Pro.

Wireless CarPlay worked fine for 6 months with iPhone XS. Now it skips constantly playing audio and phone calls drop with the iPhone 11 Pro. Makes CarPlay unusable.

I have iOS 13.3, but still doing it. I have been working w/ Apple tech support for 4 months (mostly just trying to get data to engineers, but really not much has happened yet) - and ultimately got a brand new warranty replacement iPhone 11 Pro today - and still doing it! It must be some kind of hardware/software issue built into iOS or the iPhone 11. It's 100% reproducible. Happens 100% of time with either new or old iPhone 11 Pro. Happens 0% of time with my old iPhone XS (now belonging to my wife).

WirED CarPlay in another car works fine. It's only a Wireless CarPlay issue.

I'm happy to have found this tread. I searched for this a few months ago but found nothing. I kept asking tech support if anyone else had the issue.

We may have different bugs b/c mine only happens w/ wireless CarPlay on two iPhone 11 Pros's (never w/ iPhone XS). This includes a brand new warranty replacement iPhone 11Pro with almost nothing loaded on it. It's not happening when I connect it wired to a Subaru. One thing we have in common is that this is extremely annoying. I only get cars w/ CarPlay... now it's useless.

My Wife has an iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 13.3 and has a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, and this is happening to her with a wire connection.

if there was an easy answer to this, it’d have been fixed already. But it’s been happening to me off and on throughout all of iOS 13 (always now on iOS 13.3) and I’ve got a 2018 Chevy Impala and an iPhone 11 Pro Max...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

**New people when responding - please state more info about the problem:

-Make/model/year of car?

-Wired or wireless connection?

-Did CarPlay work with an older iPhone and then stop working when you got an iPhone 11 (this seems to be a common issue w/ this bug)?

-What is the actual problem (symptoms)?

CarPlay is buggy and it had little glitches with 3 older iPhones and a 2016 VW eGolf. But now with wireless CarPlay (2019 BMW i3) and iPhone 11 Pro, it is useless, skipping in music constantly, lagging/freezing/crashing, dropping calls after 2 minutes. This is a very specific and new problem and makes CarPlay unusable. It began the day I got the iPhone 11 Pro and wasn't fixed with brand new warranty replacement. The more info we get, the more likely Apple can fix it.

I have an iPhone XS Max and a Kenwood Excelon DMX906S installed one a 2017 Optima.

I have an intermittent problem whereby the first second or so of songs and ads repeat when using wireless CarPlay. This happens on approximately 50% of the songs/ads.

I have a second issue where the iPhone doesn’t connect to wireless CarPlay after about 2-3 weeks. I have to delete the device on the head unit and on the iPhone, re-enter it, then it connects flawlessly for another couple weeks. When there are connectivity problems, Bluetooth isn’t connected and making it connect does not fix it. Even connecting the Lightning cable doesn’t start CarPlay (wired). Thankfully, this later issue is far less common.

My Wireless issue sounds similar to what so many BMW/Mini owners are experiencing but I’m not using an iPhone 11 nor am I connecting to a BMW/Mini head unit. I believe it’s the same underlying issue, though not quite as severe.

The connectivity issue seems to be an entirely separate issue than the focus of that thread.

Not to sound facetious, but we're on page 16 of this post, and many of have posted our car's make and model along with the type of phone we're using. One thing that's clear thru all of this is that it's definitely not limited to Wireless CarPlay as it's happening over a Wired Connection, too. And considering that, at least in my own experiences with this issue, it's happening on an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPhone 8 Plus for two totally different car models, and that the issues seem to have been more consistent since iOS 13.3's release.

iPhone 11 Pro and Mini Cooper S hot Chili 2019.

Hi! I turned off the WiFi location and improved considerably. But still not working properly.

Last week my car received a firmware update and also helped, but the problem is not solved.

Delays the initial connection, and still skip music 10/20% of the time.

I still believe that is a hardware issue, but hoping is software and gets solved soon. 🤞🏻

2016 Honda Accord. My iPhone 6sPlus worked beautifully. Not a single problem. The minute I got my 11, it’s been nothing but problems. If I plug the phone in to charge, and want to continue with Sirius, it cuts into that. If I’m trying to play my times, it skips, repeats, plays 5 notes of a song and skips into the next song, and does that again. Massively frustrating to have all this music that I love that I cannot play in my car! And I wonder if it would be any different in a newer car?

I've got a 2019 Mini Cooper 3 Door Hatch, iPhone 11 Pro, and have been working with Apple to resolve this. I've been testing a variation of what Danostenes has mentioned and working with Apple to resolve the issue.

Based on conversations with Apple, I've turned off Wifi Location, Ask to join networks - Off, Auto Join Hotspot - Never, and Screen time turned off. Like Danostenes has said, this has improved the auto connection the majority of the time but still had the "clicking" sound up until this morning.

This morning before coming to work I upgraded to iOS 13.3.1. For the first time in months, I was able to listen to music without any clicking sounds. So I'm going to see what happens on the way home, and start turning on these settings one-by-one over the next few days.
