Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

Unfortunately, iOS 13.3.1 did not fix the Wireless CarPlay skipping issue and may have made it worse. While streaming Pandora, 9 of 11 ads/songs restarted after playing the first second. It was occurring about half the time prior to the update.

I have an iPhone XS Max and a Kenwood Excelon DMX906S for reference.

Also noteworthy is that when I plug in the Lightning cable, there is no skipping whatsoever.

Same for me. 2020 Mini Clubman. Upgraded to 13.3.1 last night. Working perfectly all day on my iPhone 11 Pro. It had worked fine with iPhone X and iOS 13.X, but stopped working the moment I bought my iphone 11 Pro. Until now.

The original poster on this forum had a similar config, iPhone 11, Mini with wireless Carplay. And for those of you wondering why all us Mini and BMW owners keep talking about wireless Carplay, its because Mini and BMW do NOT support wired Carplay. Also, Mini and BMW share the same Harmon Kardon audio system.

I can confirm that 13.3.1 fixes the issue of calls going between the phone and CarPlay. it also fixes the lag when selecting things.

I had Apple CarPlay in a 2019 BMW AlPINA B7 and a 2019 BMW i3. It was a great feature until I upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro from an iPhone XS.

I’m happy Apple finally fixed this but waiting 132 days for a fix is less than ideal when you spend $1,350 on a phone. As a seasoned IT person I understand these things happen but ideally Apple would engage the community and let us know they were working on this.

The update iOS 13.3.1 at least seems to have fixed the issue between my iPhone 11 Pro and my MINI Cooper S (2018), which uses only wireless CarPlay. Now audio plays without irritating cutouts and the interface seems stable. I would be interested to learn why there was a problem that lasted four moths but Apple don't seem ready to tell us.

After this experience I will wait for reviews and comments before upgrading any of my Apple products.

All good now folks. The main basis of this thread was Mini then Mini/BMW ‘wireless CarPlay’ only.

All of those with wireless CarPlay, your issues have been fixed with 13.3.1.

if you’re having issues over wired. Maybe fire up another bug/topic and check your cables first and foremost. Also clean out the port on the phone. Ive had issues in the past with cables/ports and intermittent music on other devices such as headphone amps.

Good Luck

Please re-read the initial question about this post. No where do they mention Wireless CarPlay specifically. Considering how much attention this entire issue has received, it would be unfair to those of us that are still having issues.

i for one AM still having issues. My device and car model was mentioned earlier, along with my wife’s phone and car model, who is also still continuing to have issues.

The CarPlay issue affecting iPhone 11 Pro owners has not been fixed. It has been mitigated for a small number of users.

Thank you for your continued pedantic arguing. Do you have anything helpful to add? Again if you are not affected by this issue you are free to leave. Staying here just to meta-complain about the organization of the thread is not helpful at all.

Exactly... It wasn't until the 4th or 5th comment by someone else after the initial post that Wireless was even mentioned. This thread started in September, right around when the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max was released. The common denominator here is the phone and/or iOS 13, NOT Wireless specifically. And the reason there's so much focus on the Mini Cars here is that that's what was reported in (I think?) 9to5Mac or whomever it was.. Because the initial poster here noted that was their hardware. And at the time we were still on page 1 (now we're son page 18!).

The CarPlay screen works in that you provide access to your Lock Screen (over USB or WiFi/BlueTooth) and the Stereo screen is activated yadda yadda yadda... From all of my troubleshooting, the problem seems to be that THAT connection drops off over X amount of time. From my experience, it's been roughly 2-3 minutes. And again, as I posted earlier, I'm also seeing disconnects with data transfer while connected to my MacBook Pro after the same amount of time. In both cases with my Car and my MBP, the Phone continues to get a charge, but nothing is transferred thru the cable. I've tried new cables, switching 'em around (like that should matter with a Lightning Cable), I've even checked that the option to allow access to USB Accessories when locked is enabled.
