Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

Just wondering if anyone has reported the issue to the any of the heavily-trafficked Apple blogs, might get more attention if it gets some coverage in social media. In the past, I have seen iPhone issues reported in one or more of the following blogs.

Mac Rumors https://www.macrumors.com/share.php

Apple Insider https://appleinsider.com/submit_story/

9to5Mac https://9to5mac.com/contact/

The more of us that submit our comments there, the more it might get some attention. And reference this this thread so the editors of those blogs can see how widespread the problem is. At the very least, I would like to see Apple make some statement about it.

I also just read about this from a recent post, but my issue is that my 2018 Chevy Impala keeps disconnecting from my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Or the phone disconnects from the car.. Can't really tell. BUT, Music will continue to play thru the car stereo when the CarPlay Display shows as disconnected (there's a placeholder screen on the stereo prompting to connect a device), and after a few minutes it'll show the CarPlay display on the Stereo again. But then disconnects after a few minutes.. Rinse repeat.

However many updates ago, I was experiencing BlueTooth drop outs, too. Not just for my car, but with a pair of headphones and a BlueTooth wireless speaker. Those issues seem to have been resolved, though. Not the CarPlay Connection issues. I'm wondering if it's really happening to more people than what these forums indicate. I've tried a brand new cable, but not seeing any change. I wonder if people are just used to how many bugs there's been lately, they just assume it's something else that's broken and move on...

I saw this post hoping for a solution to my issue, but it seems I'll have to keep looking. I've already contacted my Dealership. I've tried resetting my Car's stereo. Forgetting my Car in Settings/General/CarPlay.. I've restored from a backup and restored and set up as new. I'm just accepting it won't be fixed at the moment.

They just need to come up with an update fix. They know this is a problem and not just for us Mini owners, some people are submitting logs to them. I'm traveling so couldn't participate. This is extremely frustrating because it's been going on for months without an update.

Plus, we all know that this is a dangerous situation as well to experience the dropped connections while on important calls.

Exactly! My wife had to drive kinda far for a work related function, and didn't know how to get there. She had to deal with holding onto her phone and looking down at it to see where she needed to go because it kept disconnecting. I mean, she was being safe about it, but still.

Another frustration has been not being able to submit a sysdiagnose directly from the iPhone unless you're on the beta channel. I've made a shortcut to get directly to the Feedback app on a regular release (because the app's still there even if you don't have an icon to open it), but submitting tickets there doesn't seem to include relevant files.

I’m having two problems with my Kenwood Excelon DMX906S and my iPhone XS Max running iOS 13.3.

About half the songs played on Pandora repeat the first roughly one second of the song or ad.

Every 2-3 weeks wireless CarPlay stops connecting. Even when I plug the USB to Lightning cable in, CarPlay won’t start. I have to re-pair Bluetooth first, then authorize CarPlay and it works flawlessly for another 2-3 weeks.

The former issue sounds similar to what was reported with MINI owners with iPhone 11 models, but I have an XS Max and am using an aftermarket head unit.

The later could be a Bluetooth issue as it’s used to make the wireless CarPlay connection and when the issue occurred I was not connected to the Kenwood head unit via Bluetooth as I should have been.

So this is likely bigger than simply limited to the 11 model iPhones and BMW/MINI cars.

My issues weren't present during the entire life of iOS13, though.. I had a similar connection issue that's been resolved with iOS13.3, but now with iOS13.3, my CarPlay connection is wonky. This release has been out now for a little while, too. Apple's had so many updates to 13, I bet there's no real consistency in this if you factor in the different model phones, too.

That's great when you get that level of assistance from Apple. I've worked with them in the past regarding a few different issues in great length and detail.. Ultimately getting my problems solved, too.

One thing I've also noticed, and I'm not sure if this is related, but on my MBP I use an app called iMazing and when I connect with a USB Cable, it'll show the power lighting bolt indicator like it's charging. But then after a couple minutes it shows the WiFi icon instead and if a backup is going on at that time, it'll restart the backup. That's my iPhone 11 Pro Max. My iPad Pro 11 doesn't have this issue.

I have a MINI Countryman 2019 an I also suffered from this and it was quite aggravating. After much trial and error troubleshooting, I think I found a solution.

I think the problem has to do with Wi-Fi Location Services. I've turned it off and for the past 2 weeks I have not experienced the problem.

You can turn it off in the following location...

Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> System Services -> Wi-Fi Networking

Give it a shot and report back if it works or not.

With the 11 Pro Max and 2019 Cooper S, and 13.3.1, I've found my issues to mostly be resolved as well. Before I had to leave my phone behind the cupholder and still had occasional dropouts. Now I am able to keep my phone in my left pocket and get very few hiccups. I have had a few when Spotify switches songs, but no cutouts during tracks or during audio books. I didn't change any settings after upgrading to the latest iOS beta.
