Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

Same issue, BMW Series 1 and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I updated the software of the car, I restored the iPhone and the car and no luck I even paired an iPhone 11 Pro Max of a fiend and same issue. Also I was using iPhone X perfectly. And pairing again my X the problem disappear. So seems like an issue with iOS 13 and the new iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’ll call my dealership in Mexico.

Same problem, I just upgraded from an iPhone Xs in a Mini Cooper 2019 to an iPhone 11 Pro in the same car. With the Xs no issues at all but with the 11, I'm having the same symptoms described in this thread. I have repaired phone and car several times, reseted all phone settings and at the end, I got the same results. Last night I went to my local Apple Store and they told me I need to contact BMW to see if they have a solution otherwise I will need to wait for an OS patch.

All this happening in Mexico City.

Very frustrating situation for such an expensive device!!!

Same as grtwht94. Have a Mini Countryman JCW 2019, switched from Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. Upgraded to IOS 13.2 and still the same issues. Skipping music and calls going moving from Carplay to phone and then back again. Tried to bypass Carplay and only use the Bluetooth connection, and similar issues. Like everyone else on this thread, have reset phone, reset network settings, reset the Mini ECU etc.

Just purchased a 2020 MINI Countryman and had a stuttering issue with wireless CarPlay using iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 13.2. Any audio would stutter every few seconds. After some testing and troubleshooting we were able to solve it by removing the device from the MINI system "mobile devices" area, then when you add the device back, ONLY choose CarPlay. It may require you to enable Bluetooth, and that's fine. But if you add your device to the car as a bluetooth device before adding it to CarPlay, that seems to be the trigger.

I hope this helps someone else wrestling with this issue. It was unnerving!

I have a Mini Cooper 2019, iPhone 11 Pro with ios 13.2. Same issues from the moment I first connected this phone.

I have deleted my device from the mini system with every ios 13 update and re-did the pairing, and I'm pretty sure I only ever selected CarPlay. I'll try it one more time, but I'm not hopeful.

@argentini can you update if yours is still working fine? Mine sometimes seems ok for 10 mins and then it starts all over again...

I have the same condition. 2019 countryman switched from an iPhone X to an iPhone pro max and have had audio skipping problems, CarPlay dropping calls, etc. Have tried every possible fix from restoring the phone to deleting profiles, etc. Got a new phone this week from the apple store and still have the same problems. I really can't believe this hasn't been addressed.

Same issue same frustration. Thought it was the phone and replaced the phone. Also, problem happens regardless of plugged in or Bluetooth.

I reached out to mini manufacturer as well and pushed the local dealership. Since Im one of 2 with the issue, it’s not really a problem but my problem. I would reach out to corporate mini.

my son has a Volvo same phone no issues. It’s something mini/bmw engineers needs to address with apple.

It has nothing to do with wireless or Bluetooth. I have turned off all wireless signals, downloaded all music locally, and connected wired and I still get this error. I have tried multiple cars, wiped the device and set as new, and even had the device replaced at Apple.

I still have the same issue. My wife has no issue on her XS, but I’ve seen reports of older models having the issue as well so it seems like a software bug.

I traded my iphone XR for an 11 and am having exactly this same problem. It seems to be a problem of interference in the wifi of these new devices Iphones 11. With the XR the carplay wifi worked perfect.

The question is: Can this be solved via ios upgrade or is it a hardware issue?

I own a Mini Cooper S 2019 (with carplay wifi).

It's definitely a Mini issue. I just called my dealership and they were fully aware since some of the employees have also experienced it. Apparently the issue is that the new iPhone software is not entirely compatible with Mini's Carplay software. The person I spoke to said that there's an update. I made an appointment to see if that works.
