Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

I also purchased a cup holder mount for the iPhone 11 Pro, and I am connecting to my Mini Cooper 2019 using the USB port. Perfect sound. It is very frustrating that so many people are having this problem and it is taking so long to resolve. I have an open ticket with Apple, and engineering is analyzing the data they received from my phone. I will keep you all posted.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and im currently running 13.2. I have a 2019 Mini Cooper clubmen with wireless CarPlay. Ever sense I got the iPhone 11 it keeps cutting out, freezing And dropping calls and when playing music on spotify it jumps like when a cd is scratched! also when using Siri etc. Tried unpairing, turning bluetooth on/off on both the car and the device nothing helps. Any others having issues? Only happened when I changed my phone in sept I have spoken to my dealer and they have said there are a where of this and said bmw and Apple are trying to sort out and should be an update sometime soon !

I have a 2018 MINI Cooper and an iPhone 11 Pro bought in September. Wireless CarPlay has been dropping the sound as so many of us have experienced. The good news - and it’s early days but seems hopeful - is that since updating to IOS 13.2.2 the problem seems almost fixed. I’ve had only a single dropout during a 30 minute drive. So it looks like the problem really can be fixed by OS updates and isn’t a consequence of the phone’s hardware that we’d be stuck with. Looking forward to reading how others’ are getting on with this update.

I'm having exactly the same issue. I recently 'upgraded' from an iPhone 6 to and iPhone 11, and have started having exactly the same issue. I've tried everything, I've reset everything, I even started a new religion and prayed to my own car to make it stop. I went into my local Apple store to ask about the issue, and they just kind of blinked at me and asked what CarPlay was.


If nothing else, it's good to know that it's not just me.

Same issue. Upgraded Firmware to latest versions:


Telephone: TT-002.106.024

Media: MT-002.105.001

HMI: HT-002.106.024


Waited 10 minutes for display to shut off and reboot. First song played was fine. Turned car off. Restarted car later in and audio was completely garbled.


Removed and re-added phone. Back to audio drops several times per song.

I brought this issue up with customer support yesterday - and they claimed that nobody has reported it officially yet, so they haven't even begun to look into it.


I strongly urge other people to report to customer support - it's a huge pain, but I got the impression that, even though they've started to gather diagnostics, they aren't taking the issue seriously.

Mine has improved somewhat drastically. I saw someone else mention this too. Delete all traces of your phone from the car. Just go to manage mobile devices and delete. Do a hard reset of the phone. Volume up >> volume down >> hold power until white Apple logo appears.

perform a clean pair to the car but only add it as CarPlay. DO NOT add it as a blue tooth device.

make sure you’re on 13.2.2. I’m getting practically no drops. Mini Countryman JCW 2019. Hope you get some success.
