Iphone 11 Pro & Carplay

I just upgraded from an Iphone X to Iphone 11 Pro. IOS 13.0 and now my Carplay sounds like an old Vinyl record with a scratch. playing music from the Phone skips randomly 5-15 seconds then skips again. I've reset the phone, I've erased the phone and just put 1 album on it, no luck. , updated to 13.1 and no change it still skips. My old Iphone X running 13.1 works perfectly. It's so bad I listen to XM now. and don't use my carplay to listen to music. My vehicle is a 2019 Mini Cooper JCW, I've had the dealership reset the ECU, any other ideas would be wonderful....

Did a a Google search to see if anyone was having a similar problem and found this. I just upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro Max (from 8+) and my CarPlay is skipping now. Maybe not as much as yours as it’s only a few times a song, but it’s annoying. Our car is also a 2019 JCW Mini.

Update: iPhone 11 Pro running iOS 13.2.2 and MINI Cooper S (2018) running UPD11024 (the MINI connect software you can download from this site https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html). Tried unpairing and repairing. All this makes NO DIFFERENCE. The iPhone 11 Pro remains incompatible with wireless CarPlay, as described countless times above.

Observations: the MINI update was dated 13 September and the notes say it 'improves the initial connection to Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+.' I assume BMW/MINI will at some time release something similar to improve the situation with Apple's iPhone 11 Pro but only if they find a way to address the hardware compatibility. If they do not then they should stop offering CarPlay as an option. Other car manufacturers affected by Apple's new hardware will no doubt be going through the same process. If I had known about this issue I would not have upgraded my phone!

Same problem here. Bought an Iphone 11 Pro last week. I use it on a 2019 Mini. Wireless or not, Carplay is just unusable considering the number of disconnections (every few seconds). I did not have these problems with the iphone X.

Given the price of this thing, it is DEEPLY FRUSTRATING. I would usually keep a phone for one or two years. If Apple takes ages to update the software so that its "PRO" phone actually work as it should (and as it is advertised), I will have just wasted my money.

Apple, please do something quickly.

Same exact issue. Have a Mini Cooper Clubman 2020 with the Harman Kardon unit. Just got a new iPhone 11 Pro. Everything worked fine with iPhone X and iOS 13.1.2. Seems very specific to the new iPhone's Wifi, and not an iOS-version related issue. I agree this is an issue between Harman Kardon and Apple. Mini cannot be blamed for this, because everything was working fine with iPhone X, the burden lies with Apple.

I reported the problem to Apple, and they told me 2 things...

1) Check the Mini cooper version for compatibility.

2) Check the OS version on Iphone

I have an Iphone X, and it doesn't any trouble with the car, same OS, same car, same Carplay.

So I recomend, that all of us, to call Apple support and report, because the support guy told me about this issue on iPhone could not be solved soon, but recently iOS change again, now the version is 13.2.3 and still have the issue.

hi All,

I spent some time researching this and have talked to few hardware engineers. As i have reported earlier, this is related to hardware changes Apple did for USB C. Basically the data transfer rate is significantly affected since apple modified the lightning pins for 11 pro. If you use wired carplay with regular USB / lightning cable, you will face this issue. If you use the USBC female to USB male adapter with the cable that came with 11 pro, you will not face this issue.

So the bottomline is that APPLE screwed us. It is for them to fix this issue. Apparently, even though it is hardware change issue, the data could be throttled by software. PLEASE KEEP REPORTING TO APPLE VIA FEEDBACK OR CALLING SUPPORT. THEY NEED TO FIX THIS!!
