CarPlay not work on iPhone 11 Pro max

Hello, Yesterday I purchased an Iphone 11 pro Max and when I connected it to the car (Audi Q7 2017) he didn't want to connect with carplay. I have changed 2 original Apple cables and Carplay is not activated, just charge the phone. I mention that we have changed two original Apple Lighting-USB cables and besides charging the phone does not activate CarPlay.

I reset the MMI machine and still do not connect Carplay. I should mention that before I purchased Iphone 11 Pro Max I owned an Iphone XS and it worked perfectly it connects perfectly to Carplay.

Today I updated Iphone 11 Pro Max to iOS 13.1.2 and there is no difference, APPLE CARPLAY does not connect.

I ask a colleague or an Apple engineer to help me urgently fix the problem because I need Carplay to work on my new phone.

Thank you in advance.

same problem for me with iPhone 11 pro max with Audi A3. It worked with my iPhone XS Max. Under setting, after having connected it with the usb cable, the phone does not connect to MMI. I am thinking to bring the phone to Apple assistance and have them trying it. And if it is still not working, asking for phone replacement. I don’t know if it’s a firmware problem, but if it’s not they have to do it.

Thanks.

Regards

Max

Not sure if Apply really monitors these posts but I found today that when I made sure the 11 Pro was fully charged it connected right away. For some reason the way on the Nissan they way it charges the phone and communicates with it has a problem. I Plugged my phone into a Volvo and a Cadillac. In both case the phone was not fully charge but it work.

Hey man, I think the problem solved. I just came back from a dealership. I tried to connect a 2018 Murano which is brand new in their showroom, but failed. Then, I plugged in a 2019 Murano, it worked, and I tested the CarPlay in 2019 Murano for few minutes. Now, when I plugged in my 2018 Altima, it works perfect.

So, u can try plugging ur iPhone in some 2019 or 2020 models, test few minutes and try ur own car.

When the battery is low, it tries to connect a few then is just say No USB device connected. I have tried may cable configurations, and no luck.

It always works if the phone is 97 to 100% charged.

Very rarely if the charge was low It worked if I connected un-connected and reconnected many times. I did a Chat with Nissan Monday 1/6/20 and they said the Iphone 11 did not show on their Comparability List. I am really frustrated.

Finally a solution albeit with a requirement to keep the phone charged. I too have suffered intermittent issues with CarPlay since getting an iPhone 11 Pro. Tried all sort of leads and USB C to USB A connector and still had problems. Noticed that the higher quality and original Apple leads were better (faults less frequent) but even they failed sometimes. The best I got was it working in the morning but not in the afternoon. How could this be? Then reading these posts realised it’s a combination of battery charge and cable. The better cables help and when the phone is fully charged (in the morning) they are presumably only carrying data from the phone to car. However, when the charge is low (in the afternoon) they are presumably carrying both data (to the car) and charge (from the car). Could it be that the iPhone 11s fast charging means that this combination of data and very high charge speed causes the failure? I think so. I’ve now tested the phone at various charge levels at various times of day and the common denominator is charge level. If fully charged it works, the lower the charge gets the more frequent the faults are. Also if charge is low and it doesn’t work I just leave it plugged in to car and when charge up to 95% it starts to work every time. Hopefully Apple can address through tweaks in future IOS updates and/or make some super high capacity cables available (although presumably the cabling in the car (my USB is in centre console) may also be limiting. For now I’m keeping the phone charged before usage and I have zero faults

Awesome for your success, I did the update and with my 2018 Nissan Murano, the the communication issue is still there. From all the evaluations that I have done, the only consistent finding is that if the Phone is 100% charged, there are no issues. but 90% or less and it is hit or miss with a lot more misses. Thanks for the post about trying the newest update.

In response to all the iPhone 11 Pro Max users with issues with CarPlay. I own a 18 murano and a 19 altima. The phone works fine in the Altima and not in the murano. It is a combination of the software in the phone and the type of radio. I have been to Apple multiple times. Replaced the cable and also replaced the phone. I’ve been to the dealer with no results. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s time for Apple to start reading these posts and doing something about it!

iOS 13.4 may have fixed it for me. Downloaded the beta version last night and although there doesn’t appear to be anything about this issue in the release notes, I have tried it at 3 different charge levels (90%, 80% & 70% and so far all is ok. At each of these charge levels before it failed every time. Will continue to try at various charge levels and post again if it fails.

My 2018 Chevy Cruze and 2017 Porsche Macan both have Apple CarPlay. Neither work with my iPhone 11 Pro. Read the thread and signed up for beta. 13.4.2 Beta (17E5233g) did not fix my problem with both cars. Neither recognize the phone. Porsche just thinks its a iPod. Chevy does not recognize the phone through usb, but iPhone lets me connect the car in the CarPlay menu but nothing happens. Car settings are correct. I am using two different genuine apple thunderbolt cables (non-usb c). Really wish this feature worked...
