Macbook Pro STOPPED CHARGING after upgrading to Catalina 10.15.5

URGENT help is needed! My Macbook Pro (13', 2019, 2 ports) STOPPED CHARGING after upgrading to Catalina 10.15.5 (19F96). I'm using the default charger and cable, yet the battery keeps depleting! The top left battery icon shows as if the battery was charging, yet when I click on it, it says "Battery is not charging".

I keep disconnecting-reconnecting the charger, and also tried to change the cable, to no avail. The charger worked without any issue before updating to 10.15.5.

I am seriously worried my laptop is going to be bricked if I won't be able to download the fix on it before the battery runs out of juice. Please bring this post to the attention of Apple representatives immediately.

If it refuses to charge with the correct power adapter, the first line of defense is an SMC Reset:

How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

If it still refuses to charge, use the "contact Support" link at the top of every forum page.

I have had this issue for weeks and nothing has helped out (tried all of the fixes described in this thread) - I am eagerly awaiting the 10.15.6 update which from what I see is in the 3rd Beta release - Crossing fingers it get released soon and fixes my issues

I am experiencing the exact same problem! I got my 15" 2018 Macbook Pro as a gift last year and has been working beautifully ever since. This was until I downloaded the latest Catalina firmware and all of a sudden, it takes 20 hours to fully charge the laptop and the battery drains in only 20 minutes of using. There was no problems at all until I upgraded firmware. I've tried reseting the smc and unticking battery health management but still nothing :(

I upgraded to 10.15.6 hoping it would help, but so far, nothing has helped. I'm just limping along as I've resigned that I will need to take it into the shop and get it repaired. Since I'm working from home and relying on my computer, there just doesn't seem to be a good time to part with it. Ugh.

Going to have to take mine in now as it's also got the flexgate problem. The keyboard is also flaky - but as I understand it if they service the keyboard it requires the battery to be changed. Fingers crossed. This battery only has 76 cycles!

Hi XRoom, you mentioned that by leaving it connected to electricity for a while fixed you problem. How much time do you recon? hours? days?

As I mentioned above, resetting the SMC controller unfortunately didn't help with my current problem..

In the same boat as well. Started update after having done it on an older Mac successfully but MBP 2018 was dead when I came back to it.
