Screen Time App Limits keep disappearing

Why does this screen time and app limits functionality not work? The ones I set are over-written, even tho I have block app turned on, half of the time they disappear and I have to restart the list. What is going on?

100% same exact problem here! Apple, please fix this glitch! All my kids have to do is push the one more minute option, and boom, 8 hr a day on Instagram just like that. I have reset the app time limits like 20 times now and it is getting very tiresome.

This bug has made parental controls completely useless. Please fix so they work as they are supposed to!

Very upset with this Screen Time bug that removes all settings and app limits. This is causing my two teen daughters accessing to adult content and exceeding by far the allowed time. This is happening on the two up to date iPhone 12 and M1 Macbook pro and an iPhone 8 to set up the limits and control them. If this is not resolved in the next weeks I think we have right to go against Apple for not taking care of this important matter that can affect kids.

This is laughable. I set a time limit on all of my child’s apps on her iPad from my iPhone and literally watched them disappear after 10 seconds. Tried it again, this time is took 30 seconds to disappear. Fix this app, Apple. Same thing with limits on downloads, in app purchases, etc. I toggled Don’t Allow and 5 seconds later they all flipped back to Allow. 🤦‍♂️

I’m having the same issue! Last year my mum used her phone to set up screen time limits for my phone. There’s been no problems until recently, when the app limits started disappearing at random. It happens every week or so, and it started around the same time I got an Apple Watch. Is it related? Also, is there a cause?

we just updated so only time will tell.... the issue was so random for us, sometimes would happen immediately sometimes would take a week. Fingers crossed.

I know bugs will happen, but this one was a complete feature failure and took MONTHS to get a resolution. This should have been a hotfix months ago.

The problem is, they know we are hooked in for thousands of dollars on these devices and are not going anywhere. Apple needs to be humbled in a big way!

Only APP LIMIT disappear randomly and my kids are happily using their phones unlimited! I have setup so many times but of no use. I reset my phone, logout and login my icloud, removed and redo screen time many times but nothing worked. So frustrating! Somehow APP LIMIT data seems not stored properly in icloud. I can see clearly with my phone and my kids' phones, I laid down both phones, setup APP LIMIT in my phone and it showed up in my kid's phone and just kept watching what would happen staying on the APP LIMIT screen. Guess what. BOOM! APP LIMIT disappeared in couple of minutes or in seconds sometimes. Please check my account. I am an engineer but I couldn't solve it by myself. This should be urgent. Otherwise the screen time is useless.

Please fix this apple!

I’ve had this problem for so long now and it’s beyond frustrating when all we’re trying to do is keep our kids safe.

months ago I spent hours onto apple support chat with all the families devices turning them on/off and doing all things suggested. It’s been manageable for a time but now app limits are back to randomly disappearing.

Not what you’d expect from Apple at all!

We installed 16.5.1 on all our devices yesterday. We’ve now lost app limits 3 times in the past 24 hours. Somehow it got worse? Apple seems to be devoting too many resources into their $3,500 VR platform while leaving existing customers/concerned parents on our own. I cannot believe this hasn’t been fixed.

Nobody wants to hear it but at this point none of these minor updates are going to fix it. I’ll wait until September’s iOS 17… if it’s not fixed/overhauled by then we’ll be moving to a stable platform.

App limits have been working for my two kids for over a month. I have determined that problems arise when the parent accesses screentime settings. Before clicking on the child’s screen time profile you must wait for the “updated” time stamp to update to current. Once you wait for the progress indicator to stop spinning and update to current, you can click on the child’s profile. Ironically it seems to me that the more the parent checks the limits the more often they go away. I swear that for my two kids the limits haven’t disappeared for over a month. I know because i get ask for more time requests and i very periodically check but wait for the progress indicator to stop spinning and the time stamp to update. Is this the way it should work? Of course not. But this is a workaround it seems to me to allow it to work while they try to fix it.
