Why does this screen time and app limits functionality not work? The ones I set are over-written, even tho I have block app turned on, half of the time they disappear and I have to restart the list. What is going on?

The only fix that worked for me was:
After these operations the time limit remained active. Of course, you might need Content & Privacy settings as well but this is the only thing that kept the App Limits in place.

@apple. Guys, this is clearly not working as it should...
Opened a incident with apple, done everything as suggested. Sync Childs device, log out of icloud on all devices, reset all devices and start again...still not working
With 16.3 on all devices, the problem remains. Please fix this, it´s just unusable
It is happening to me as well. All my kids devices and mine are iOS 16.3. Certainly apple has lost its mind and good developers. Unbelievable that they don’t care about millions of kids who are getting lost with unlimited screen time for many months.

Aaaand here we are midway through February with still no fix. Okay Apple, I see you. I also see new phones in my pre-teens’ futures that are NOT Apple products. I chose Apple for the ease of locking down their phones. You’ve given them free access for several months now. Deuces.
Truly unbelievable that there’s no fix to this yet! Beside this deactivation „feature“ - are you all experiencing a problem with the screen time notifications since iOS 16 as well? My kids‘ requests are nearly all pushed via iMessage and not as a screen time notification anymore, hence you cannot grant more time via the Apple Watch and the iMessage chats with your kids are spammed 😤
App limits option completely disappeared for one child but it is still there for the other. Even resetting it doesn't work. I realize there is an open issue but are there any workarounds??
Using Downtime doesnt seem to do anything either.
This is STILL AN ISSUE. I am constantly having to reimplement app limits for my son's phone.
This has been happening for months now, and NOTHING from APPLE. Can we get some kind of response? This is getting ridiculous. The feature does not work!!
Very upset with this Screen Time bug that removes all settings and app limits. This is causing my two teen daughters accessing to adult content and exceeding by far the allowed time. This is happening on the two up to date iPhone 12 and M1 Macbook pro and an iPhone 8 to set up the limits and control them. If this is not resolved in the next weeks I think we have right to go against Apple for not taking care of this important matter that can affect kids.
I left feedback here - someone mentioned it is more effective or something... I agree this is ridiculous.
And I have a life, and no time to test their software for them!

I’m having the same issue! Last year my mum used her phone to set up screen time limits for my phone. There’s been no problems until recently, when the app limits started disappearing at random. It happens every week or so, and it started around the same time I got an Apple Watch. Is it related? Also, is there a cause?
This is incredibly frustrating. The limits disappear multiple times per day for my 12 year old. Downtime and app limits are impossible to rely on.
I switched from Android and Google Family controls in Nov 2022, and I’m really missing it now!
we just updated so only time will tell.... the issue was so random for us, sometimes would happen immediately sometimes would take a week. Fingers crossed.
I know bugs will happen, but this one was a complete feature failure and took MONTHS to get a resolution. This should have been a hotfix months ago.
The problem is, they know we are hooked in for thousands of dollars on these devices and are not going anywhere. Apple needs to be humbled in a big way!
And here I am thinking my 12 year old is cracking my passwords!! The One More Minute makes total sense, he does it all the time!
@apple, please fix this...the Parental Controls are the only reason I went to Apple. What's the point of staying if it is non working.
Screentime works here. But app limits disappear at some stage shortly after setting.
I would actually love to be able to have a system that allows you to set varying screen/down time and app limit schedules in the one day so that I’m not having to change multiple times a day.
Only APP LIMIT disappear randomly and my kids are happily using their phones unlimited! I have setup so many times but of no use. I reset my phone, logout and login my icloud, removed and redo screen time many times but nothing worked. So frustrating! Somehow APP LIMIT data seems not stored properly in icloud. I can see clearly with my phone and my kids' phones, I laid down both phones, setup APP LIMIT in my phone and it showed up in my kid's phone and just kept watching what would happen staying on the APP LIMIT screen. Guess what. BOOM! APP LIMIT disappeared in couple of minutes or in seconds sometimes. Please check my account. I am an engineer but I couldn't solve it by myself. This should be urgent. Otherwise the screen time is useless.

I’ve had this problem for so long now and it’s beyond frustrating when all we’re trying to do is keep our kids safe.
months ago I spent hours onto apple support chat with all the families devices turning them on/off and doing all things suggested. It’s been manageable for a time but now app limits are back to randomly disappearing.
Not what you’d expect from Apple at all!
