after updating ios 17.6 , battery drain is too much , within few minutes its down drastically in iphone 13

You are going to need to allow a few days for things to return to normal. The battery is working overtime after the update and it has to index everything on the phone......slowly......so the battery is getting a real workout.
I was so disillusioned with this that I did a factory reset and then a restore.
For 3-5 days it was amazing, the battery was decreasing like before (in the evening I had around 50% again without charging during the day) but around the 6th day the rapid discharge returned again (around 2PM I have to charge at least 20-30% to last until the evening).
I'm counting down the days until iOS 18.
You can still use itunes to downgrade to 17.5.1 for a few more weeks.
It's also happening for me, I recently updated to iOS 17.6 on my iPhone SE 2020. The battery has been draining extremely fast, even though this is an older model. The battery never drained this fast in my year of having it. All I do is watch some YouTube, which would always drain it, but it would take like 5 hours to reach 20%. Now it drains from 100% to 20% in about 2 hours. The battery health has been 86% for a long time. But still, never drained this fast on the following versions I had on the phone. Only iOS 17.6 has terrible battery life.

I have a 2nd gen iPhone SE and was recently updated to iOS 17.6. Prior to this update, my daily routine use was on average enough to leave around 33% by the time I went to bed. Now after this update it is less than 10%. Some have suggested that the iPhone will require a few days to index. Well it seems time has not made any difference. Today I had another update notification iOS 17.6.1. I placed the iPhone on charge and updated. A few minutes later I picked the iPhone up from the charger and it was very hot. The battery level was down to 92% even though it was on charge. The iphone is in a plastic armour case but felt quite hot so the actual phone must have been even hotter. It must have been a very hard battery drain in such a short time. I know that this iPhone is now a few years old the battery is somewhat degraded, but it was working fine for my needs. I expect the iPhone to get poorer in time. Getting slower to respond and poorer battery power retention happens. I hope this update is not another batterygate.
My daughter has an iPhone 14 and has not noticed and issues.
I did an update for my grand daughter’s iPhone SE 2gen and this also was very hot after the update.
I hope that this iOS 17.6.1 update takes the battery power retention back to where it was before the iOS 17.6 update.

After I was iOS 17.6 I started noticing that the battery is slowly degrading somehow and then I updated to iOS 17.6.1, which just made matters worse. I woke up in the morning with around 80% battery that was around 6 am and by 12 pm my battery is at 30%. And screen on time was just less than two hours. (I had 5G on auto the whole time.) I mean after the update it just started draining the battery so fast. Even to the point that once it gets less than 40% battery, the phone starts to slow down.
NOTE I’m not experiencing any heating issues but it’s just the update that made the battery drain so fast even at night time when the phone is not in use
It's not always the iOS update's fault! Many things can cause phone problems. If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

This is also affecting my phone, It's a brand new iPhone 15, I bought it no more than 2 weeks ago, and actually, the battery life on the phone since I bought it was more than decent (about 4 days without being charged at all) with a medium-high usage. Yesterday I updated the phone to IOS 17.6 and the battery started to drain significantly whether the phone is being actively used.
You can tell in the attached screenshot that after the phone received the update around 12 am, the phone battery ran out too quickly, notice how it decreases constantly during my sleep time when the phone is not being used and also noticed before the update the green bars were almost flat, now is like always decreasing constantly.
also, you can tell from the image I fully charged my phone today at noon, and again it's draining the battery constantly lasting about 12 hours.
Same issue here. It’s been already 5 days after updating and still terrible battery drain and overheating on my 13PM. I had iOS17.3.1 before and the battery was excellent. 10-12hrs…now hardly 4hrs. I tried hard reset several times etc. Nothing helps. Hope iOS 17.6.1 is coming soon to fix this!
what I read after every update is my battery is draining too fast. It’s not. To avoid taking hours, and at this point they should just make you wait hours, the put off any part of the update that doesn’t have to finish in order for the iPhone to work. They do the rest in the background seamlessly as possible but in the end, more is happening on your phone than you are aware of and thus, the additional power requirement. So here’s some advice. Plug your phone directly to an Apple power brick and leave it alone when you can or carry an external battery if you are that addicted to candy crush. This is yet another example of Apple elegantly trying to improve functionality by maintaining user experience and getting criticized for it. IBM would have you send in your phone for a new EPROM for your $500 yearly software update. Give them a break and only complain when functionality is actually impaired and maybe give them a couple of days. Believe me, you are that one person who finds the bug. By the time you wake up in the morning, support has already been hammered by internal and external reports. In my case I came on here because the battery levels on my implant and hearing aids aren’t reporting. Oh, woe is me. I will just have to actually look at the charger for a few days while Apple puts out a patch. I can’t be the only deaf person that uses an iPhone.
I have an iPhone SE 3rd Gen bought new 09/01/23. It's been absolutely fine. Updated to IOS 17.6 on 07/29. This morning, 08/04/24, my battery was fully charged and went from 100% to 50% in one hour and to 4% in another hour without being used. And only 8 minutes of background apps running. There's no way this should happen!
Had to update my phone as one of my main apps wasn’t working. Now my battery life is draining and I’ve hardly used it. This happened to my father in laws phone a few weeks ago and it never resolved itself - we have now sent his phone to apple as under warranty but now I’ve seen these posts I’m hoping they will realise and sort this issue out. I’m so gutted as this is a new phone.
I had my phone fully charged before going to bed. There was no app open. In the morning it was dead. Same thing happened previous year. Within 5-6 hours it drained fully. This is all after OS 17.6
is there anything I need to do other than hoping that Apple will fix this soon.
If it takes several days for Apple to do whatever it is, it needs to do when it updates iOS then it should have that information in a little blurb when it tells you they have an update available. That way people know what to expect are not concerned and complaining as much if they know what to expect. Also, how long should one wait for the battery to get back to a normal state before asking about it?
