ah cripes. let's see, i logged out, reset safari with Remove All Cookies checked, closed Safari.

Reopen, login and i get the same error page when clicking on discussion. am i sol on this? no sense in trying a restart i assume.

if so, is there a sensible way to get back to my earlier threads so i can follow up on them??

after this does or doesn't happen, what is the method exactly for getting rid of this account and starting a new one?

thanks for this help...

Hi Don,

All. Many thanks. Very nice.

Can I access my posts by snipping a url or substituting portions of the url and then later decide if I need to sign up without the "#" character? Is so, could someone be specific and help me with respect to the url? Looks to me like the pertinent part is:

%20#22?

Yes, you should be able to do that.

Go to the page using the on-screen link. You'll get the 'not found' page, but the URL displayed in your browser will be unchanged.

Replace the portion %20#22

with %20%2322

It should then work. If it does, bookmark it - once you've bookmarked it, it should always be available to you.

🙂 No problem!

Another thought. You might also be able to see your content page using the links that work (for us) if you're not signed in.

When you are signed in (as hotwheels #22), you're supposed to be seeing that page as showing "Your Stuff" and "Your Discussions" instead of how we see it as "hotwheels #22's stuff" and "hotwheels #22's discussions". I have this horrible suspicion that when Jive tries to display it as "Your Stuff", then it hits the # character badly, and everything turns to custard. But if you aren't logged in (Youre viewing as a "Guest"), then you should be able to see it as "hotwheel #22's stuff" etc, just like the rest of us.

(So if I'm right about that it's a bug with the Jive software, or at least the ASC implementation of it, that has been causing the issue for you, rather than any problem at your end of things.)

first off a really big thanks to all for the help. so nice to run into a real online community once in awhile. ok, so for the bug hunters that follow.

clicking on the external url that rhonda kindly provided did not work. i tried this in both logged in and not logged in mode. i also tried this in mozilla but my recollection is that i probably only tried this as not logged in (even though I was logged in via safari at the time?).

anyway, snipping the url as Don suggested did not work either. I don't know much about this kind of code but i have to say it looked like it should work.

anyway, a big bunch of thanks for digging me out on this one.

regards,

Jon
